I won't be surprised that some of us are neighbours among the 13 of us. I will be in pain for a long time if my gal does not get into SCGS coz I am living in an estate filled by current SCGS students. I can imagine the constant reminder as long as i live in this estate that I lost the place for my gal to people who cheated the system. Sigh. Please please be honest (to those who had the intention to cheat the system....), your joy may be someone else's pain...

in case there are potential cheats originate outside elsewhere, who do not access KSP forum or ignorant of KSP presense.

if one fine day address cheats are reported in newspapers, it is a timely warning to ALL other hot, popular schools as well ! Not just for SCGS sake.

When can try to sit for entrance proficiency tests?

You have to register yr child under the waitlist.

and when there is a vacancy, the school will alert you and your girl as to sit for the entry test.

note:-
only when vacancies arise for P1, then such tests are administered only for Singapore Citizen. Otherwise, no test.

Entrance Proficiency Admission Tests for SCGS P1 pupils normally take place in beginning first few weeks of Term 1, January. This year, it took place on Saturday, 14 January 2012.

pupils who fail to ballot into SCGS from Phase 2B / 2C can apply to sit for the tests, ie. seek transfer.

it was reported that standard of tests is quite high. With remaining half a year left to 2013 January - child can start prepare now.

There is no point to vent your frustration & warn parents like that as those who want to violate will still violate. They know the rule & consequence well. The rule is spelled out but the control is not well executed. If P1 Mummy is so capable & have well connections then urge MOE & the school to do their stringent checks with immediate effect. These apply to those who need to ballot in P2B now. Don't have to wait till whether your gal get in or not. You can do something to serve the community & be proud SG citizen who uphold justice well. To be fair & square, this is way long overdue control coz all of us know the rule is vague & many parents change their address when their kids start with the school.

Plus my girl so that makes it 13? My guesstimate that prob 50 candidates or so will be fighting for 29 places. Well maybe I am hoping it is just 50 lol.


I disappeared for a few days and wow so much gunfire in the last few days! But honestly in my opinion, I hope that no one cheats at other kids’ expense. It is all about integrity and fairness really.

EVERYONE here on this forum would do all they could for their kids but cheating can’t be one of the things to do. For myself I moved back from another country last year after many years of working and living abroad and now live within 1 km from SCGS. I left my husband and my daughters overseas and moved back here alone one year before my husband moved back to Singapore so I could source for a kindy, our home, and do the necc renovations before they moved back. I did this for my 2 daughters and it’s "all in".

So I would be v v angry if I find out someone has been cheating. I can understand P1 mummy’s feelings and she prob sounded harsh cos she wrote it feeling v emo…But her threats do sound real. She is a whistle blower and we should all turn whistle blowers in the interest of our girls! So pls dun cheat. If you get caught so "malu"… plus of course the consequences could be far-reaching!

I just hope and pray that my girl gets in. Nothing else I can do really!

Hope parents will take into consideration the culture of the school before putting their kids in. As far as kiasuism and the focus on academic achievement is concerned, many other good schools are ahead of SCGS.
The community in SCGS is very much more civil and hopefully it remains this way with every new intake.

P.S. There is a nearby girls school which I feel is a better fit to the temperament and aspiration of certain parents.

I understand that for the ballot for above 2km, there are about 30 for 9 places.

And wow! what a lot of posts of the SCGS thing. A bit of reflection though:

If you are prepared to lie to get your kid into a school or your choice, then you have to be prepared for the consequences if you get caught.

I don't know whether it is so easy to get the info on addreses even if one knows the VP or Principal etc. Because that person, I reckon, would be in breach of the Official Secrets Acts if that person releases such info.
