Too hot to handle, smps and mmc are both decent all girls school. Even if you are more than 2km away you still stand an almost 100percent chance for mmc and a very good chance for smps if you apply at 2c. However at 2c supp even for these schools the odds of getting in are very low. For smps at 2c supp the school traditionally has no more vacancies all gets taken up at 2c itself. For mmc, all spaces go at 2c supp to those living between 1 to 2 km. This year with PRs vying for these schools they will most definitely get full at 2c itself. Therefore you may need to make your plunge sooner rather than later.

My answer is \"I will consider\". Depends on what choices I am left with and obviously how big is the sch's appetite. Someone has actually told me I can donate x0,000 (>50,000) to this xx Girls' Sch and get a place if we fail in P2C. But I did not verify or follow up. If my girl got into an ok sch, I won't consider it at all. Top notch sch will prob ask me for donation every yr after that.

I wonder if the schs have the autonomy to do that though. Can they slot u in by adding an additional space?? You r asking prob because you have heard similar stories!

[quote=\"2hotTOhandle\"]I just spoke to my friend who is a teacher. Her friend has taught in BHPS but apparently the kids have so many disciplinary issues she threw in the towel and quit.

Don't shoot me I am just sharing this pc of infor for parents who might be considering BHPS like me.

If both 2C failed and you given an option, will you consider sending ur girl to a top notch school but with condition of donationg to school rebuilding? And it's not a girl but co-ed school?

        *just curious asking.......

          Hi Ninja

Are u in the same dilemma as me? Or maybe u hv other sch choices within 2km.

I hv analysed the situation and obviously came to the same conclusion as u.

Anyhow the question is whether to take a gamble on SCGS or just give up entirely. I won't know what we will do until Day 3 I guess.

I am going for smps its more than 2km. Scgs is too risky if you ask me. I don’t want to sacrifice my gals future taking such a gamble i too have 2 gals and one will follow the fate of the other as you mentioned earlier. With smps more than 2km I still a good chance if I do it at the 2c. At 2c supp no hope at all. It’s a full school and a good school on the whole with lots of eca choices etc and as holistic as scgs. I don’t want to be too greedy and only regret later at 2c supp that even these schools are gone. I will be left with BHPS! Scary thought…

Decide no later than by the morning of day 3 so you can withdraw at scgs and reapply. Just in case of a technical blip and you are still showing as registered at scgs and therefore cannot apply elsewhere.

Hello 2hotTohandle, are you within 1-2km of RGPS?? My friend said 1-2km for RGPS pretty good chance too as RGPS is surrounded by mostly landed ppty.

if Yes, on Day 3 if SCGS too risky, go RGPS.
monitor which school give higher chance of entry.

at same time, prepare your daughter well for Admission Proficiency entrance tests, transfer into SCGS.
                  Don't end up in BHPS.

                    hi

like I mentioned earlier, SCGS is the only girls/co-ed sch within 2km from where I live.

So SCGS is within 1km, and the other schs 1-2km are ACJS, ACPS and BHPS.

St Marg is just slightly o/s of 2km.

I think I am in v similar position as Ninja. 2 girls also. My second girl will register next yr. Next yr if I try for SCGS again chances are even slimmer I guess. Year of the Golden Pig and prob quite a few new developments TOP by then. I don't think I want to go through P2C for my second girl again, just let her follow the older girl.

Personally as adaptable as kids are i find transfers in between school term very disruptive. I don’t wish to put my daughter through that. I rather just go for a fairly decent smps which is also a full school at the outset where there is an almost guaranteed chance of getting in at 2c even if you are more than 2km. Rather than the huge gamble with scgs. As by 2c supp without a doubt even the fair schools will be mopped up this time by PRs who don’t stand a chance with the branded schools.

I do not think the school will mark any parent/child for making a "last minute" registration. Not all parents are lucky to be able to take leave to register on the first day.
