Wow all of you are so good at making soups with the thermal pot. I must learn some tips! The other time I tried herbal soup, the pork ribs wasn't soft enough. Tried red and green bean soup, but DH felt the beans were not soft enough.Happy Mama:
Ya lor! Our cute cute pot doesn't take up too much space. Right Maid?

Actually making soup with the thermal pot is very easy. We like our cabbage and pork ribs to be super soft too! I cooked it for half an hour over the fire before transferring to the outer pot. The soup was really sweet and tasty. :celebrate: -

Yes, the trick is cooking it a bit longer over the stove. Good luck in your next attempt. I meant to cook tau suan over the CNY weekend, but did not get down to doing it because the you tiao stalls were still closed. Will probably do it this weekend.

for red beans (my family only like red beans), i will boil it overnite, put in thermal pot, take it out the next am to boil, put in thermal again. you can repeat this action a few times till you get the softness you like. very simple and fast job.
i dont put pot on stove for half hour that long, once water boils, it will be put into thermal.
my big thermal pot has been with me for more than 10 years. -

Hi LOLMum, what do you mean by boiling overnight? How do you do that? Using the slow cooker? Or do you repeat the process several times in order to get the soft texture?
