Hi Publica - My son had to stay back today to decorate the class for CNY. But no info about whether early dismissal for Friday.
I guess parents have to get used to not getting circulars a la Primary school - and rely on the kids to tell us things - which they often seem not to volunteer. My son only told my about Tue holiday when I asked him
Has your son received the CCA of his choice. We are very glad that DS got Infocomm - which was quite keen on. I am not sure about points etc - but at least it would be 4 yrs of doing something he is passionate about and hopefully he can learn something new too. -

My son called me yesterday too to inform me he had to stay back for the CNY decor. Yes, we have to get used to not knowing in advance the dismissal time. As we are staying quite far from the school, I try to pick him up from school where possible, only had to make wasted trip last Friday due to the last minute counselling outreach session.
Congrats to your son on getting his first choice CCA. It's important to do what he's keen on especially he has to do it for the next 4 years. My son was so torn between choir and scouts but chose and was allocated choir eventually.
Time flies and they are already into the third week of school and lessons have not really started yet. He's still enjoying his honeymoon. -

My son in 1J, he said 1230pm too:)
He didn't get his first choice library and second choice Scouts. He went to Choir , his third choice. Choir is on every Thurs and Sat but his Malay Special Programme is also Thurs, any idea how to appeal ?
Thanks -

Thanks[/quote]My son got into Band as he has ABRSM cert in clarinet.
How do you know the schedule for Choir? Is the cca schedule shown on the school website updated? The teacher in charge said that there will be twice a week for performing arts for Sec1. Not sure if there will be more when they go Sec2. -
My Son told me is thurs and sat and it was as per the CCA schedule on Victoria website . His CCA in primary school was Chess so he want to continue his chess . He went for the chess audition and the leader said he can join . Just wonder can he just go for chess and donโt join any main CCA? Totally no idea on this. I only recall the chess guy mentioned during the orientation that if the student do well in the secondary CCA e.g Chess then it can be considered main CCA. You see my son donโt want to give up MSP either, and he want Chess CCA so he cannot afford to have another intensive CCA. So I think Scouts for him is still manageable but unfortunately he was chosen for Choir and not sure can appeal or not?

Hi,
One of the seniors we met was in NCC but he said the school allowed him to take part in scrabble competitions which is where he got most of his points from. So similarly your son probably be allowed to take part in chess. They were told they cd appeal on Monday itself and I think Wednesday supposed to be a barter session - where they can exchange with others.
VS choir however is one of the best in the country - so it might be a good option too.
