DS had just been to the Sec 1 orientation last Mon. According to the school book list for Year 1 IP, he only has Maths text, Chinese text and Literature novel to purchase. What about other subjects? Can other parents whose son is in the IP advise? :?

The subjects are done in modules. Those not done this term will be covered next term/semester. For the Cedarians under VCA, I m not req to get Maths text.
The texts are more for reference btw, at least for my son in VS IP3, it is. Notes and assgnments are given in class/online.

Thanks for the reply. If I may ask another qn, then how to get assessments for the IP students? Do they still buy the Sec 1 guide books?
Hi, I made a mistake on the above as my ds entered IP at yr3, his was the first IP batch. For the express classes, certain subjects like Hist/Geog/Phy/Chem/Bio/Lit are done in modules. But for the IP classes, all subjects will be covered.
Accordg to my ds, notes are given and the text was used as a reference. He doesn't hv text for Geog but I think the notes given were enough to kill him : ) For Hist, he had a text but his assignments and tests were not based much on it. For the humanities subj, the tests and exams were nothing like what you see on assessments books.
So based on my ds' IP3 experience, it is rather hard to get assessments as it doesn't follow O lvl structure /content. Even if you can get assessments based on the content, they may actually be easier than Victoria's papers. I think it cld be bcos A lvl content is included in yr 3 as well.
You can try searching for assessments once you get the curriculum from the various subj teachers. It will be easier then.
Btw, Your ds can ask his teachers for practice papers later.

Hi. Can anybody advise if the secondary one is being stream into their class? Heard DS mentioned something about art class n sport class. I wonder how the school make the separation? By psle results?

For the Sec1s, Art class is for those on the AEP. Sports class is for those who dsa into VS. The sch does not organise the boys accordng to PSLE results whether in express or IP.
They will be reorganised again in Sec3

Hi rainbowie, can you share what's are the bus no.? TIA

My neighbour's ds (ex-victorian) recommended this route home: Bus no. 31, 196 or 197 from vs to bedok mrt station. Take train to tampines mrt stn. Transfer to bus no. 27 outside the station. The bus will turn in to sk after tpe.

In case you aren't aware, student fare is capped at $0.58 per trip, disregarding the number of changes for bus/mrt/lrt.

Hope this helps.

Tks

I think I found it - Food & Consumer Education aka home econs.
Also FTP - Form Teacher Period
and CLE - Character Leadership Education

Sad to hear from DS3 that Victoria has lost one of their own through hit and run accident. DS3 had offered to help him during a school camp but he graciously turned it down as this boy, Mustaqim is very independent.
I was furious when I first learnt that he was serving NS and got injured in the course of duty. However, I have nothing but deep admiration for him when I know that he volunteered to serve in the army. MINDEF should exempt him no matter what.
RIP, Mustaqim, you will always be an inspiration to Victorians!

Really hope that the hit and run driver will be found soon!

Oh dear, I didn’t know he was a Victorian. He certainly showed a lot of determination, resilience and willpower to persist despite the adversity that life threw his way. I believe VS also played a part in nurturing him, bringing forth his full potential and inculcating that earnest contribution of his.

Rest in peace Mustaqim, we are proud of you.
