Catholic High School

Again time fly… Didn’t log in years and now my son had completed his O level. Just to share our experience on either IP or O level track. We are so so glad we made the right choice to put him in O level track instead of IP. His point do qualify him for IP. But we felt that going into IP will restrict his choices after his secondary life. Now he passed with great result and he is able to qualify for any JC in Singapore! Catholic high is a great school and my DS had matured and become more adopted to high stress level. This in turn prepare him for future high ler education and hopefully working life.

Too late for me to see this post. I insisted my Ds to do IP Program. Now struggling in year 2. Now have to think how to write email to school to transfer him to O level track. 😔

Any parents successfully transfer your DS from IP to O level before? I cannot wait till year 3, understand no chance to do it and no time to prepare O level exam. How to do it? Must get MOE to approve? Please help. 🙏🏻

The IP curriculum is different but how difficult is it from the o level program? Do all IP schs have similar curriculum n is everything project based?

Hi, anyone know if tennis is available? I heard a student mentioning it as a "second CCA". Thanks.

Not that easy to transfer to O level. Although theoretically it’s a dual track school. You have to give very good reasons.

Otherwise if a large percentage want to move from ip to o level, there’s not enough classes to go around & not enough teachers to go around coz there’s only 5 classes of o levels. -

In chs, ip & o level shares some similar curriculum. But ip pace is faster. Coz o level class time devoted to academic learning whereas ip also has lots of project work. So within the same no. of periods, need to squeeze in the academic part & the project part. -

It is not one of the official cca. But school still formed a team for those who are good, & trained them, & during competition season, school also send this team & let a teacher in charge follows, to represent the school.

This was during my DS time. My DS was not in tennis though. You may have to email the school & ask them directly whether the school is sending any team out for the near future.
My DS has a school cca, but he also learns another sports outside of school. In the past, that sports also represented chs during competition season. But unfortunately during DS time, the school stopped sending a team out for that sport.
During P6 Meet the parent session, the school actually told me they do send a team out. But when DS entered chs in Sec 1, that “promise” did not materialize. I felt rather cheated at that time.
Luckily DS thrived in his school CCA & attained leadership positions.
Also as he progressed to higher secondary, schoolwork became busier & he had no time for that outside sports, so the lost wasn’t that great.
I shall not elaborate further coz otherwise from the sports, those who know & read this may know who my DS is. -
Dear All, any parent to new CHS students here? For year 2020 sec 1
