Hmm, I have always had the view that for longer term planning for better students would be OP in tier 2 boys' schools like CHS. At least if you do well in O Levels, u r not stuck with tier 2 or 3 JCs like Eunoia JC. There is still chance to do A Levels at RI, HCI or VJC.
If you are keen in A levels in RI, HC, VJ, why not go join from Yr 1? What is the rationale of joining another school for the first 4 years?

Because of scholarship. The choice was either CHS OP or HCI IP.

Ejc last year A level result was not impressive- Science result didnt churn out as good even with bulk from IP kids.

RP is only ~82 point which is 2nd last among the IP JCs and lagging behind non IP JC.
Better to be in CH OP which has high std then excel, then do A level in RI, HCI.

VJC results dropped these 2-3 years.

IIRC, VJC and EJC were among the last few schools that joined the IP route. With an overall increase in the IP cohort, surely there would be some shift in the schools' performance, especially for those newer IP schools.
Why focus on the overall school performance? I'm sure there were also kids had fantastic A level results from these JCs....coz they were smart kids to begin with. I had friends who chose not to go the top JCs during my time and they continued to churn out fantastic results.
My belief is that one should focus on what he can do....not what others couldn't do.
Anyway, if it's your choice to keep your kids in O level track, I'm also perfectly OK coz it's your decision. Just donch keep putting down some of these IP JCs

Hi all, I’m new here :). We were looking around for school for my boy for next year & so far he’s really comfortable with CHS compared to others (he’s really supportive of CHS when we watch the national science challenge on tv). How is the school compared to others? This school is quite low profile compared to other school around the same cut off score.

Glad that your son feels comfortable with CHS. Yes, the school gives out a friendly vibe. The place is like a big family. The teachers are kind & there is brotherhood & camaraderie amongst the boys. The boys are hardworking, do well in their studies & they don’t feel that the environment is competitive.

Curious why it’s not as highly sought after as the others (Dunman, Nan chiau etc)? Is there something that we miss (offer more subject)? We went to a few open-house & CHS really gave us a sense of belonging with it ‘my blood is green’ slogan. The students are very well-behave & actually more refine than those from the more reputable school :)!
