Me too ...wondering why the magical no of days : 20?
VitoRelax:
All students are required to submit application by 2nd Dec.
Results of posting only out on 22 Dec.
Anyone knows why MOE needs 20 days ? Their software should be able to chune out the results based on the algorithm at the touch of a button !! -

How can :!: The system is supposed to be fair and transparent, remember?
\"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.\" (replace 'animals' with 'children')

The mean is affected by the outlier usually but again it really depends on MOE's 'actual' std cal.
James Ang:
Previous years the lowest is always around 87, but this year the lowest is 45, so I can only assume that there are students who gets 46, 48 53, 67, 82 etc. If it is just an outlier then it should be knock off to prevent a misunderstanding. I agree the mean and std deviation can be a useful guide to help parents in this kind of \"unusual\" situation.VitoRelax:
Of course, your calculation is based on assumption of simple averages.
We can have a clearer picture if MOE release the mean & standard deviation of all subjects for every year.
Any idea why MOE does not want to release this info ?
Any idea why should simple info like mean & standard deviation be confidential ? -

What I meant was: how to input a parameter \"30K donation\" when the system has to be seen as fair and transparentWay2GO:

BTW, 30k is an unverified NUMBER. But I know for sure at least 5 yrs ago, the amt was already 5-fig!!
Any idea what's the rates now?? -
Way2GO:
Agree - that's why when they starting raising the cut-off there were a lot of unhappy parents - but it seems there is now a push to keep a certain level of academics as well. Is 220 hard to achieve by the way ?mummyjoyce:
The reason is to keep their cultures - so you have a big team of Old Boys or Girls.
If this is the primary reason for being, then the respective school's ethos should include:\" We will never abandon the children in our schools\". What kind of school spirit is that when a school discard the 25 - 30% who don't make the affilated COA cutoff at a time when these children need it most! -

If u r referring to SCGS, my take is that 'If MGS can do, so can SCGS!'
Is 220 hard to achieve by the way ?

I know it's just a hypothetical number for sake of discussion. It's a gray area that I don't want to get into. Honestly, I am just as curious but don't really want to know. :siam:BTW, 30k is an unverified NUMBER. But I know for sure at least 5 yrs ago, the amt was already 5-fig!!
