PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!
-
workingmom:
My daughters are in MGS so just wondering if 220 was like a pretty high score to get in PSLE ... there was talk abt raising this further in the future.
Really can't tell. Say, if 220 will result in 90% from MGPS for a few years, I'm sure MOE will arm-twist them to tweak the COP. But in general, I'm sure they wanna maintain a min % of students from MGPS.
BTW, I saw that ACS(BR) does not have any COP. Does it mean they only accept ACSP & ACSJ? -
csc, I wasn’t referring to the median T score of each PSLE cohort which differs each year. I meant a T score of 200 can be considered as the average as a point of reference.

I think that's b'se all their seats are filled up by their affiliated schools. No one is posted from outside ... -

Yes - they only take in from ACPS/JS - but parents would try to get their kids into ACS (Indep) as it is the \"better\" school - but its nice to have a fall-back school to rely on!Hi,

csc:
I think the average score is around 230 for psle. Whether 220 is achievable or not depends on the capability of the child in question.
Ok - average in whole cohort nationwide - hopefully its not the average in the school alone - btw, the standards in MGS are quite quite high (which I am surprised) - not the difficulty of the exam papers but how well the kids score - the top 25% tier is extremely competitive..judging from the P1 exam stats ! -
Can someone please help?
Any good chinese tuition centre IN THE EAST (preferred Bedok, Marine Parade ) to recommend? Needed to get a good one for my son who will be in P6 next year. -
After getting our posting results, can we appeal to two secondary schools or only one? :?

The national average score for PSLE is more like 210 to 220. I was told by a HOD once. -

Way2GO:
The algorithm by that the MOE office told me covers all possible scenarios.
Human intervention...human intervention.
A computer program is only as smart as the person who designs it. It's tough to design every possible scenario into the algorithm:!:
Human intervention & \"donation seats\" should not affect the duration of letting us know the results of postings and is irrelevant to the algorithm.
Human intervention & \"donation seats\" is not neccesary in the algorithm.
This is because the the \"donation seats\" or \"human intervention\" can go in after the results of posting is out. All the \"donater\" has to do is to approach the Principal and appeal & if the Principal says OK, the student is in !! Remember, it is the Principal's prerogative & it is the Principal's call & the Principal can decide.
So, what has \"donation seats\" that got to do with the computer algorithm. The software belongs to MOE so I am sure MOE does not want to get involved with all this \"donater\" at school level. MOE would be be very busy (& unnecessary busy) & stupid to get involved especially there are \"donaters\" at many schools !! It is the respective schools Principal that got to deal this this. All this \"donaters\" comes into the picture only after the results are out !!
So, the question as to why MOE needs 20 days to release the results of posting has not yet been answered. I am sure, MOE has already got the posting list by now.
Anyone know why MOE needs 20 days ?
