PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!

.....RGS has done away with specific classes for GEP pupils and think it should be the same for RI. GEP pupils are now allocated to certain classes in Sec 1 together with the high scores in PSLE from the mainstream and mainstream pupils who have secured a place via DSA (w/ the exception of those who got through Sports DSA). .....
Hi Dharma
I thought RGS has all along been doing that. However, the students still recognise that these are the GEP classes. In the past, a mainstream student of at least about 272 will usually be placed in such a class.
In Sec 2, main stream students with GPA of about 3.86 or more, I think, will also join such classes. However, the GEP will remain in their class regardless of their GPA.

Thanks Dharma and atutor2001. So the GEP classes are kept intact for Year 1 and 2? Thanks.

Hi turquoise
I think the school placed alot of emphasis on RA (sorry don’t know what it means). Students who are offered subjects in RAs are usually the cream there. The number of RA subjects a student is offered is a reflection of her academic ability.

Things have changed. My dd1's batch, her good friend w/ 276 could not get into such a class. The COP for mainstreamers, I guess COP varies from yr to yr. No streaming at the end of Sec 1 last yr...girls remained in the same class for lower sec. Sec 3, girls will be streamed based on subject combi.

Thanks Dharma and atutor2001.
Dharma, for your dd1’s year, the top scorers had very high aggregates so I guess that’s why even an extraordinary score of 276 couldn’t make it into the DSA classes. -

My son answered some queries re RI's \"RA\" (Raffles Academy) in this thread:

and also a few post down on some followup queries after that at here:

You may like to have a look as it explains what RA in RI is all about. I am not sure how similar it is to the RA in RGS though.

Thanks for the update. I am out-dated. In the past they usually keep the GEPers together even after streaming in Sec3 i.e. GEPers of same subject comb are grouped together in the same class - I think it is to facilitate monitoring by MOE. Any idea is that still the case.

Thank you very much for the information. It is so clear and detailed. I finally know what RA is all about although I have heard of it for quite some time.

RI's fees is 300 per month. So that's $3600 per yr. You'll get $2400.Award Quantum
The EESIS award quantum for pupils admitted into S1 from 2008 onwards is
1)$2,400
OR
2)the annual school fees charged by the independent school less the annual amount of school and standard miscellaneous fees paid by pupils in government/ government-aided schools, whichever is lower.
Which will I get the [money] or [subsidy of school fees...etc.] if i were to study in Raffles Intsitution?
