      CHIJ OLGC
      St Margaret
      Marymount
      Peiwah Presbyterian
      CHIJ Kellocks
      Townsville
      MGS
      PLMGS
ST Anthony (just started I think)

11 primary schools offer RG are few, out of more than 100 primary schools in SG.

looking forward in future to more primary schools to offer RG CCA.

If not wrong, is St Anthony Cannosian primary (all girls school, in Bedok North Ave 4) #11 on above list, not St Anthony primary (co-ed school, in Bukit Batok), that offer RG CCA.

RG (Rhythmic gymnastics) : only meant for girls

boys can only take up AG (Artistic gymnastics), if keen

Yes is St Anthony Cannosian Primary.

Is consider growing fast. When my daughter started 6 years ago there’s only 5 schools. There’s limited RG coaches in Singapore.

Not only limited Rg coaches, but school must also be willing to invest in some RG Apparatus. Without the right tool to use, girls unable to practise Rg.

also noticed that in co-ed schools, AG (artistic gymnastics) is more popular. But costs of investment in AG equipment (eg : buy beam balance, or buy trampoline to jump, jump, jump, etc) is more costly than that of RG apparatus.

May I know… Are children able to learn gymnastics for recreation? Overall it seems the ultimate goal is to go competitive if you’re good enough? But I’ve seen those who do gymnastics are really fit. Not sure if ds can keep up!

of course your son can always learn gymnastics, as a form of recreation.

In primary schools, coaches divide RG (Rhythmic gym) and AG (Artistic gym) pupils, into 2 separate different team.
                - Recreational team, Or
                - School team

Recreational team : only attend gym training, once a week
School team : attend gym training, at least twice a week

since your son is keen in Recreation, he can always join the school’s Recreational team.

But for other parents whose children are keen to join school team and intend to use this later in Primary 6 for DSA Secondary school application, the coach will assess them individually, suitable or not.

If good, the coach will invite them to join school team.
Then, they will be trained, to represent their respective primary school, to take part in inter-primary schools’ RG / AG Sports competition.

                    Hello everyone,

Is there are any gym school that allow a child to acquire skillset for each grading (e.g. from Australian Syllabus) without going for competition? Looking at AG(Artistic Gymnastics)

                    Many thanks in advance!

                    Cheers

We followed a fixed set of routine set by Singapore Gymnastics (our national sport association). There are 2 paths which is the level(Recreational) and stage(Elite). They are graded during competitions which are National championship and Singapore Open. I have never heard of any overseas syllabus here.

                        Hello gerzy123

                        Many thanks for your reply!

May I clarify that during the local competitions (National Championship and Singapore Open), gymnasts are to compete based on a fixed set of routine as mandate by Singapore Gymnastics?

I had came across 2 gymnastics schools that appear to be using overseas syllabus, hence I had cite it in my example:
                        1. Alpha Gym follows Australian Level System
                        http://alphagymasia.com/gymstarsbigstars/
                        http://alphagymasia.com/intermediate-adv/

                        2. Bazgym follows Australian syllabus as well

Are there any gymnastics schools that allows acquiring of advanced gymnastics skill sets without the need to go competition?
Reason for asking - the recreation path offered by gymnastics schools I had came across seemed more of fun elements

Many thanks for your advise in advance!

                        Cheers
