Opinions on changes to PSLE
-
Said to be in response to the feedback that they have gathered from the earlier dialogues.
My guess is probably the T-Score formula.
Unlikely that they will scrap the PSLE .... and adopt the infamous primary school registration procedure for secondary school :scared: :yikes: :faint: -
I hope SA1 and SA2 papers will be centralized starting from P5. I know it will be a logistics nightmare but it will narrow the gap between neighbourhood schools and top schools.

They will create less competition? More affiliation, more dsa?

Changes might be made to PSLE, as announced in today’s Sunday Times. More details will be released in National Day Rally Day speech…
Whatever policy changes to be announced, just hope that they are made after careful deliberations and any long term impact has been considered.
Keeping my fingers crossed…
Any guess to the change? me and hubby debated, my guess is that calibration of PSLE score might be tweaked, his guess is that current admission policy to secondary schools might see changes.
Whats your sense of the likely change? -
Since they’ve done away with mentioning the top PSLE scorers and the schools from which these top scorers came from, maybe the next step will be to do away with giving the students their T-scores altogether. Just a band score, for eg. >260, 240-259, etc. Then based on the band you score, you can apply to any school in that particular band.

But isn't the uncertainty more stressful? That means I will not know if my child is high or low band & chances of getting into that Sch is wven harder to gauge. Unless the sch must accept all applicants within the band. How to order my choices. To me, Seems more scary -
Do you think they will implement the changes, whatever they may be, for 2014 PSLE ?

I hope not. Really pray that it will not take effect from 2014.
