Yesterday, went to help pick up my sec2 nephew from a prominent tuition centre. This is a class cater for IP I guess, since I can identitfy them from their uniform. Did a count , 6-RI, 1-HCI, 1-NYGH, 1-RGS, 1-DHS, 1-?(in home cloth). It seems like RI students need tuition the most. Is it because their courses are tough or they don't really teach (heard from a RI parent). But we are seeing parents rushing for RI every year. Do select school which is most suitable for your kids and not just becos of \"虎父无犬子“ saying or heirtage...

No NJC student? ;D Guess they have no time.

Yeah, I meant a parent during CNY and asked where their very smart girl was. They said at tuition. I was surprised that their RJC girl needed tuition. The girl was from RGS. They said cannot \"not have tuition! How to cope without tuition?!\". Ah....really surprising to me, since I thot kids in Raffles group of schools would all be able to cope without need for tuition.

Seems like not many here have applied for Victoria School, Cedar Girls', River Valley, or Dunman High? Don't seem to hear much of these few schools, especially the new IP ones.

VS and Cedar accepting small numbers this year. Heard that total IP cohort size is abt 90 for each school. So, DSA vacancies only 45 for each school maximum.

Low numbers of vacancies + 1st batch tend to be guinea pigs might discourage some application.

Aiyoh! No tuition how to catch up? Anw the small minority with gpa of at least 3.8 are really good academically, hard to beat them even if tried all out. The rest are ordinary.

haha - NJC also around 90+ for dSA. But hear many more parents here talking about applying.

I think most parents in this forum only wish their children can secure a school before PSLE. This will be less stressful for the kids. Whereas for those parents with kids in GEP, they've limited school choices (& RI is one of them) if the kid wants to continue with the prog. If my DS is not in GEP, maybe I'll be less \"kancheong\" now. Frankly, I've never thought of RI when he was in mainstream. My worry is if he doesn't secure a sch thru DSA, what if he can't do well in PSLE??? Given that he'll only start PSLE revision in 2nd half of P6.
Kids wanted to continue with GE prog, partly because they do wish that they can go to the same sch with their peers.

Haha! Parents’expectations no choice for them. Want to get scholarships or enter the top courses locally like medicine, dentistry and law. Those with gpa 3.8 and above really good, the rest are just pure hardwork.

My kids are classified as ordinary. One thing i know, to get high gpa in RI cannot be just training but must be natural.
