My ds2's classmate's brother is in GEP and went to RI. He's now in Year 5. I often see him with his mom when we are in school picking our younger boys. At least 2x a week, if not more. His mum says he's very free! Ends classes often home by by 2 or 3pm. Don't know what CCA he join, only need to stay back 1x a week too. He has no tuition either. Doesn't sound like a very busy RI boy. Has no problem coping with school obviously.
Didn't know you had kids in RI, Edureach. Those with high GPA in RI are indeed very bright. And also very hardworking.Edureach:

My kids are classified as ordinary. One thing i know, to get high gpa in RI cannot be just training but must be natural. -

Interestingly, I have FB friends who are students. A few now doing Medicine in NUS. All previously from RI/RGS/HCI but not from gEP. When in school, they had no tuition, and they had time to do school CCA plus outside CCA. I always did wonder how they do it???!!! My kids nowhere as \"supergirl or superboy\".
:yikes: :yikes: Where do they find the time for anything else? -
Edureach:
Above 3.8 is considered very good? Only in RI, I suppose.phankao
Haha! Parents'expectations no choice for them. Want to get scholarships or enter the top courses locally like medicine, dentistry and law. Those with gpa 3.8 and above really good, the rest are just pure hardwork. -

Yesterday, went to help pick up my sec2 nephew from a prominent tuition centre. This is a class cater for IP I guess, since I can identitfy them from their uniform. Did a count , 6-RI, 1-HCI, 1-NYGH, 1-RGS, 1-DHS, 1-?(in home cloth). It seems like RI students need tuition the most. Is it because their courses are tough or they don't really teach (heard from a RI parent). But we are seeing parents rushing for RI every year. Do select school which is most suitable for your kids and not just becos of \"θηΆζ η¬εβ saying or heirtage...
That is probably an over generalisation. Which subject is it ? -
jtoh:
I believe a few have applied to DHS, but a couple of them complained about the general office and how they handled the kids' portfolios.
oh.....ist ?? got complaints for DHS's general office ??
as for my experience, i had encountered bad attitude from NJC admin office when i made enquires to the sch.....
and not once, TWICE, handled by diff pple .......
also some of my gal's classmates mummie also told me that abt NJC's admin. -

I found him v cute too with a charming smile.. Read from newspaper his mum got phd?... He is my ds idol
And that Sheldon Tan also has Diploma in both Piano & Violin!!! And he's so cute compared to that top scorer compatriot of his.Blur Dad:
I really admire those top students for PSLE, O-Level and A-Level who appeared in newspaper said that they do not have any tuition at all. With good time management and teachers help they are able to achieve good result and become the top students in Singapore. Some more there was one student last year in RPS, he not only top in PSLE but also able to skip one level. He is real gifted manz!!!

Exactly what I heard from a friend today ie RI doesn't teach and students need tuition.
RI population : sec 1 to 4, 450 each = 1800; + J1 & J2 : 1200 each = 2400, total population = 4200. How many really have tuitions given their very packed time table ? based on 6 RI boys seen coming out from tuition centre ?

any Sec school allow DSA entry via musical string instruments like violin, cello, gu zheng ?
can try DHS under string ensemble......they are strong in it.
