Since last year (I think), selection camp and interview are on same day. For this year, it will be after PSLE Oral - that's not very ideal timing as most schools will be busy with prelims by then.

By then the DSA results of some schools like NUSH and maybe RI will be out already. Those who have secured places may decided to skip the camp all together.

Then maybe that's NJC's strategy of eliminating those who had gotten offers from their preferred schools. This way, those that turned up for their selection camp / interview will be geniunely interested so offer acceptance will be higher.

Not just the selection process. Many parents and students also dunno what they want so just go for what everyone considers the top few or so and then decide later.

That is quite true. DS started the year only wanting NUSHS, because they had the Maths and Science name behind their school name. Later on, best friend wanted to go RI, so this one becomes his additional choice. HCI was our add on.
We intend to let him make his own choice of school in the case he got more than one choice. How about the rest of the parents here?

My ds first choice is RI and it is near to our house too. We ask him to try HCI also as it is a very good school too with nice and big campus and good teachers. He has no objection in trying DSA to HCL.

My ds doesn't like NUSHS as he said the school is so smaaall as compare to RI an HCI.. πŸ˜‰ ..One of the reason tt I did not insist him to apply dsa to NUSHS as need to pay $140 in total for the application!!! :moneyflies:

For us NUSH is ideal as it’s really near. We went for the open house and talk by the principal and was really impressed.

For DS most of his friends are applying to RI so die die must apply.
Lots of his friends applied to NUSH too so he is OK with it.
He doesn’t like HCI so we ask him to apply for NJC too .

How nice that most of your DS know where they want to go. My DS till now is unsure n just leave it to God to see which school gives him COs. Not very wise but he is still very kiddy. Even his classmates' choices cannot affect him. He is v independent n does not follow e crowd type but also indecisive. But wait till he manages to get CO then come n worry.

Yes, yes, I knew some GEPers who scored >90% for SA1 and confirm going to RI and yet apply DSA for HCI, ACSI and NUSH.

                    >90%!! Future PSLE Top Scorer. πŸ™‚

They are mainly from ACS(P) and NYPS.

Yes, they are already \"earmark\" by most of the top schools. Watch out for these students. Might be the PSLE top scorer. Some of them hold \"high\" post in their school also. e.g. Head Prefect

But good for the ego and self esteem mah. Some see it as trophy for collection...never one too many! πŸ˜„ Someday they can tell others....been there, done that!

Just to a check, how many GE parents and GE students only apply DSA for one school? None, I think.
