We are not asking the kid to lie, the kid has to really love the school which they have applied for DSA… otherwise why go for DSA…

so as to secure more ‘safety net’?

My view: Do not ask/teach the kid to lie. What values are we teaching the kid if we say it is okay to lie during an interview. Be honest. Interviewers do value honesty and integrity. And if you don’t like the school, why apply to begin with.

you apply for more than 1 DSA precisely because you are not sure that one and only one application will offer you. you can call it safety net or whatever.

nothing wrong to consider a few schools as possible choices, and so a decision has to be made later. you have a first choice, and a second choice, etc .... nothing in life is so absolute, so DSA is also a good learning journey for the kids

rare (not impossible though) are the ones who would die to enter one school and no where else .... to \"really love\" the school is an overstatement, IMHO

many many very bright boys from NYPS eg would say without thinking their first choice is HCI, even without affiliation they feel a sense of kinship with the HCI boys, \"love\" the school for the same culture etc ........but many of them are now happily settled in RI

what lie ? let the school know you are applying for a few DSA. nothing to hide. no need to fool to school with only one DSA application. who is lying?

applying to a few schools does not necessarily mean must like one and dislike the rest, right ? nothing is absolute

you will have cases where the one you so liked but not successful in getting an offer from them, so you have to like another one, unless quit studying

is that the reason why people remain single unmarried because the one he / she is chasing after is married to someone else ?

You are correct. There's nothing wrong in applying to a few schools and letting the schools know. The schools will ask anyway.

Impt thing is to apply for schools that the kids truly like and will not mind attending if they are offered DSA, in the event that they don't get into their first choice.

not many schools will believe you if you tell them you only apply for one DSA, as most will apply for at least two, to have a choice
