Hi! Sota is opening application for DSA for March & June. Any parents with kids P6 this year applying for DSA - Sota? Can we try DSA for more than 1 school?

you can try as many schools as you wish

but the general wisdom is to try max 2 schools - i.e. those that you realy really really want to get in

no point wasting lots of time doing so many DSA and then got a few offers from not-to-die for schools.....then headache to accept or not. Once accepted, cannot take part in MOE S1 posting anymore

          hi all

May I have advise what is the difference between Integrated Program (IP) and International Baccalaureate® (IB) as they both offer 6 years program ?
          Mum1113
IB is also IP, so-called 6-year through train, as they skip O level exams

in truth, if the kids are not up to the mark, they may be asked to transfer to do O level for his / her own sake. if do well in O level, can be considered to continue in the school for A level or IB.

Your question should be what is the difference between A level and IB Dip

A level covers the subject matter more in depth

IB covers wider scope but less in depth, that is what one principal put it, but must pass all subjects

IB has certain % of score marked by own school teachers, while A level is 100% marked by Cambridge

IB Dip is suited for certain type of degree courses esp those in liberal arts

sure there are some parents out there with a more complete comparison

            Hi

            Need advice:

Understand that CCA helps in the application for DSA.
In the event if the student is not successful in the application for DSA, does the CCA still help in the application for secondary school after PSLE result release?

            Thanks

If a child is unsuccessful in DSA, then he will be posted via S1 posting exercise based on his PSLE aggregate, with no bearing on CCA achievements. Of course if his T-score meets his preferred school's criteria (eg min. cutoff for CCA, eg. DHS is 245, NY 250??), then he can still try to appeal to the school with the CCA. This of course depends on how important the CCA is to the school, whether CCA team still has vacancies, whether school has vacancies, etc.

                    Hi,

                    Need advice please…

With so many schools offering DSA these days, how do one assess which school(s) to try DSA for your child? Short of knowing the PSLE score, how do a parent assess where your own child stand among the whole cohort to set realistic goal/school?

If non-GEP DSA, then your child should have some sort of national ranking/placings, or national awards, etc.
