      hi all,

I am new comer and like to know if NUS High does DSA selection mainly through Maths n Science base on P4 results onwards ?
Any sharing from any successful parent is very much useful as a guide. Sorry if I miss any similar communication on this topic before.
      Mum1113

NUS High has a written exam to short list students who are invited to a full day science camp. Here they are screened for certain skills and abilities . What are the skills is not mentioned.

You can also mention their primary school results from P5 and P6 sa1 - all subjects. I dont think p4 is needed, cant remember

Any other competition mats /science certs would be good - typically olympiads.

All the best for your child

thanks thst is great ! What about portfolio, is it required ? I can get ready his past achievements into simple folder but not sure if need to get professional help in getting the portfolio done up as I think there is private tuition which even teaches doing up portfolio for DSA. Any sharing on this part is wonderful 🙂

DSA is open to every one, GEP or not

GEP students has higher chance then non-GEP students, under academic domain application

different schools apply different process between GEP and non-GEP applicants in DSA

some GEPpers choose not to participate in DSA

you can try as many schools as you wish

but the general wisdom is to try max 2 schools - i.e. those that you realy really really want to get in

no point wasting lots of time doing so many DSA and then got a few offers from not-to-die for schools.....then headache to accept or not. Once accepted, cannot take part in MOE S1 posting anymore

IB is also IP, so-called 6-year through train, as they skip O level exams

in truth, if the kids are not up to the mark, they may be asked to transfer to do O level for his / her own sake. if do well in O level, can be considered to continue in the school for A level or IB.

Your question should be what is the difference between A level and IB Dip

A level covers the subject matter more in depth

IB covers wider scope but less in depth, that is what one principal put it, but must pass all subjects

IB has certain % of score marked by own school teachers, while A level is 100% marked by Cambridge

IB Dip is suited for certain type of degree courses esp those in liberal arts

sure there are some parents out there with a more complete comparison

                        Hi

                        Need advice:

Understand that CCA helps in the application for DSA.
In the event if the student is not successful in the application for DSA, does the CCA still help in the application for secondary school after PSLE result release?

                        Thanks
