Vanillacake,
She was one of the few who has not heard from RGS. So i think \"Pao Tang\". I believe she can get reasonably good results from PSLE. But I'm still unsure of which school she should apply.

In another post, i was asking opinion that should School A is a choice school that did not give CO. School B a backup school that give CO. Should i just give up everything and wait for her PSLE result and apply School A.
Basically my DD has not heard from any school.

That's a tricky situation to be in. If School A is the school your dd wants to go to, and you are confident that she should be able to get in via her PSLE results, I say just wait for her PSLE results. If your dd does receive a CO from School B and she puts School B as her DSA choice with the intention of transferring after the results, be prepared that it'll be a real hassle. You can read past year's posts for details from parents who went through it.

There's also the question of doing the honorable thing of sticking with your DSA choice after you've made it. (I think you mentioned it in your original post). Choosing a DSA school only to transfer out is denying other students of a place in the school. While this practice is officially frowned upon, it has been practised and there's talk that it may be clamped down. So you also don't want to be caught in a situation where this might be the year that schools decide not to allow any DSA transfers.

No, dont think it is my post about the honorable thing. though i think so.

Thanks for your thoughts. I may take the risk as i'm pretty confident that she can score good marks. I will think about it. My only concern that there is always a chance that her MT pulls her down. 25% of the time her MT can go into a B grade (roller coaster between an A* & B - unbelievable). Thanks anyway
Hi Lynn2010,
I understand your concern about your dd's MT grades. If it's any reassurance, on average, more than 80% of students taking CL score A/A* at PSLE. πŸ™‚
Did not receive letter from RI yesterday.

So bracing ourselves for the rejection letter either today or Monday.
Anyone else on the same boat ?

Dear Ngbrdad

I am just a fellow parent - who applied for DSA for SST for my son - but did not get through to the shortlist 😒

Yesterday when I read your son got the NJC interview letter - I involuntarily let out a \"Yes!\" - and surprised myself in the process. I do not know you from Adam - but somehow seem to be rooting for your son - like in a reality TV show. Good luck for the rest of the DSA process.

Hi vidhyalog,

All is not lost. The most important exam is still the PSLE. Do motivate your son to work hard for it. Good luck!
Thanks Publica.

Am waiting for nus high test outcome. The 400 shortlisted for the camp are supposed to pay for the camp fees by July 19. So the results should be put soon. This year there is a 40% increase of pupils attending their dsa talks and open house. That should translate to 1.4x2000=2800 dsa applicants!

Not 2800 dsa applicants.
Actual number of DSA applicants for year 2011 = 2017.

Anyone knows if you are on RI waiting list, when will you be given a confirm offer? Will students on waiting list be informed somewhere in Sept whether they are given CO before they exercise their DSA options in Oct?

Think it's the same as getting CO for both.
So all depend on your DD and parents; preference.

One of the sessions on the lesson preview at this station for Maths on the \"geometrical properties of circles\" was awesome and eye-opening! πŸ˜„

They taught us some basic geometrical properties of circle by proving that the angle at the centre equals twice the angle at the circumference as well as using the this proof as a precursor to prove the other geometrical properties of circle aided by computer stimulation and overhead slides. Explanations given were very clear and easy to understand.

Other stations show-casing Science topics like Physics, Chemistry and Biology were also equally impressive. πŸ˜„
The rest of the stations involved languages (English. Mother Tongue and Foreign), humanities, Da Vinci programme where they taught us how to assemble our own \"Yo-Yo\" and took it home. From here, we learnt that even making a simple toy like this required not only good hands but also attention in details and patience.

The other station was on student development at their concourse level 3.

Vanillacake,
Which school are you refering to?

Vanilla cake was referring to NUSH. πŸ˜‚
