        thanks margaretleong for your reply
        very surprised though
are yr DD and friends are from NYPS ( if it is OK to ask ) ? and that is why they are 'die-hard' NYGH fans ?
coz I expected it to be other way round, that for those with offers from both RGS and NYGH, that more would put RGS first....

would really be great to hear views from parents with DDs in same situation ...
CO from both RGS/NYGH or with WL from NYGH + CO from RGS ...

        Thanks!!
No, we are not from NYPS at all, that is why we have never heard of the wonderful Mdm Heng before this whole DSA process.

She is from RGPS. From what I hear, a lot of the her friends seriously considering NYGH. This is also the feel that I get talking from the other P6 RGPS moms as well, even those who were ex-RGS girls.

          surprising....
when we went for the open house at NYGH ...
the girl who brought us around said that they have only 2 GEP classes in Sec 1 in 2011 .. so looking how DSA is going , maybe next year NYGH would be having more GEP classes in sec 1 ..

my DH is a die-hard Rafflesian, but he is letting DD decide
he did not give DS previously a choice .. it was RI over HCI ... so he is now in RI
but for DD this time ... he is letting DD decide ...

been really helpful and interesting to know what other parents in same situation are leaning towards ... Thanks much !

Does anyone knows when will the students on RI WL be given confirm offer? Is it before the students exercise their options in Oct or S1 posting?

According to the MOE procedure, it will be made known on PSLE results day.
Unless, RI P could give the assurance like what the P of NYGH did.

Does any one knows if there will be any briefing by RI and HCI for those offered CO and WL?

                Hi MargaretLeong,

Could you share why these RGPS girls are considering NYGH over RGS? It was the other way round for past years.

I can't speak for the other girls but DD and I like NYGH much better than RGS on the Open House day and we feel a lot more comfortable with Mdm Heng. I feel that the talk in RGS was so focused on excellence all the way. There is an over emphasis on excellence and at the same time lack of emphasis on overall character development. Of course, this is my own and DH's opinions.

One of her seniors who is now in Sec 2 NYGH really enjoyed her BSE (Boarding School Experience) and DD is looking forward to that as well.

There is a separate thread on RGS vs NYGH in this forum. I am an ex-RGS/RJC mummy. DD went for both RGS & NYGH open house last year. DH & DD didn’t like the RGS talk (too much emphasis on excellence but little to no emphasis on character dev & values). I was more partial to Rafflesian heritage of course. Anyway DD eventually didn’t apply for RGS & is very happy now in NYGH. I have met the principal during the interview. Mdm Heng is direct, firm, very balanced in her views & comments, yet warm & puts both DD & I at ease. What I like in particular is she didn’t put down other schools, but let the facts speak for themselves. DD has been in NYGH for almost a year. Absolutely no regrets …and that’s coming from a true-blue Rafflesian…

                      Dear gleemom,

                      This is very helpful. Thanks!!

Am i right that all girls have to take HMT? What if they dont make it?

Do they take end of the year exams? Do the exams determine the promotion to the next level and to HCI eventually? Do all girls automatically go to HCI regardless of results?

I heard that some girls transfer out of NYGH bcos they cannot cope. It will be good to hear from parents of girls in the school first hand. Appreciate in advance

My DD though good in studies but must push. RGS may not be the right school though she is from RGPS. She's lay back. Her aim in life is to go back to Australia and do her uni there.

Congratulations to those with CO from their dream schools. :rahrah:

Any offers or calls for interview from ACSI?
My DS applied for DSA and answered the HAST, but no news from ACSI so far 😞
