SBC dad:
One question : does anyone know whether NJC besides issuing CO or rejections, do they issue WL like some schools ?
Yes, they issue WLs. High chance of getting place if you put as 1st choice in your preference. -

Great to know that ! Thanks phankao !SBC dad:

wonder are they the same group of interviewers... they are so bad and cruel  ...
Oh dear....poor boy...hope he'll recover from it soon.tisha:
My DS too had to wait for over an hour. But he said interview was about 10 min. Not sure what time he went in and what time he came out. He was taken away by the senior student about 15 mins before his interview. But he said they had to wait outside for a long time.
From what I heard from DS, the questions were mainly to assess your personality. DS mostly answered from heart and did not give any calculated well thought out answers. Not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing.
DS also said that the boy who was interviewed before him came out quite tearful. Said his whole face was red and he was wiping his face. DS was feeling very sorry for the boy. Wonder what went wrong?
DD's friend called DD last night after NJC interview and felt lousy about the interview. She was asked about her other DSA applications and DD's friend mentioned about RGS' s rejection. Immediately, one of the interviewers asked her what she thought was the reason for her rejection. Poor gal felt awkward but went on to elaboate about not being out-spoken enough. She was then told by the panel that in IP sch, she would need to be outspoken. DD's friend walked out with a totally bruised ego.

DS just came back from Chinese tuition.
2 of his tuition classmates also went for NJC interview.
One had to wait for 20 minutes for his interview which is not too bad.
Another one waited for 2 hours !!!
The boy’s turn was supposed to be 2.30pm when he got there , found 4 people in front of him. One took 40 minutes, 2 took 30 minutes each, last one took 20 minutes.
So the boy went in at 4.30pm.
And there are students scheduled for interview at each room till 4.30pm.
So whoever come after him will have to wait for at least 2 hours. -

NJC day activity and interview.
My DS interview supposed to be from 3.45pm to 4.00pm but he waited for more than an hour. By the time I fetched him, it was 5.10pm.
He was unhappy over the way the interview was carried out - not only the longer than expected waiting time but also he felt that the interviewers (teachers?) did not give him a chance to complete his reply. He told me that they did not wait for him to finish what he had to say and ask him another question halfway through his reply. He also mentioned that one of the interviewer said a few times that "…if you want to join an IP school, you cannot… or you must…". He was only asked about his hobbies. They also commented on what he did during the day activity. Duration about 10-15 mins.
Originally he did not want to attend the phase 2 activity and interview. He changed his mind so that he can join his friends who were also selected for phase2. On the way home, he kept saying that he should stick to his initial decision and not attend. I have to tell him to treat this as a learning experience and reminded him that he had enjoyed the day activity.
So to all the students who did not feel good about the interview, treat this as a learning experience. It may not be as bad as you think and I hope you will get the CO from NJC. -

Well, back in 2009, when my boy went to RI, he waited 2.5hours to be seen. He had a little sniffle that day and was exhausted by the time it was his turn, and by afternoon, his little sniffle had become a full-blown cold. He had a bad impression of the school ever since, I'm afraid. Nevermind that it's an \"elite\" school. ;(NJC day activity and interview.
My DS interview supposed to be from 3.45pm to 4.00pm but he wa.
