Ms Tay, your DS' results are simply impressive! Though you will never find out why he got rejected, but take heart as I strongly believe that he can enter his dream school via his psle results. It should be smooth sailing for him.Ms tay:
My ds scored 268 - 275(since p3- p6 ) he got 1st in his level every year in his school .I really dont understand why ri and hci rejected him . Anyone can explain ???

vlim:
The HCJC uniform is rather smart to me. Lots of us liked it when they first came out with it. Then all the other JCs (except for RJC) started following that same colour top and bottom look.[
I am ok with HCI yr1/4 uniform but don't like the yr5/6 beige col uniform
....
Vk2010.. So for RI 1m or p or q class what r they diff from other class? -
rilakkuma:
my very first post. so happy to receive CO from RI, ACSI and HCI. ds from gep, scored > 80%, bit of an all rounder.
at the same time, i feel the stress for the kids going thru the seletion process & receiving letters in the midst of orals/prelims.
just one more month to psle, everyone jiayou!
:congrats: to rilakkuma and DS! -
firefly38:
hey ngbrdad, you were from HCJC? me too! :hi5:[/quote]Looks like a number of the parents here were either from HCJC or RJC. :imcool:

Hey that's what we used to wear back in the old Hwa Chong JC.
Nice OK.
But really thick and hot though.

DS1 got CO from HCI. Under mainstream / SMOPS (Phase 1).
A number of his friends got WL. Also under mainstream / SMOPS (Phase 1).
:congrats: to Emelyn and DS! -
Paddy Field:
DS had a co from HCI - really thank God. Congrats to all who had co.
:congrats: to Paddy Field and DS! -

RI and HCI take in very few mainstream students via DSA so competition is very tough. Maybe his performance at the tests and interview weren't as strong as the others? Or perhaps he's very good in all subjects but not outstanding in one particular subject compared to the others? DSA is for those who demonstrate exceptional ability over and beyond their peers in a particular subject or sport. If your son is an all-rounder, as he probably is based on his excellent school results, he would have no problems getting in based on his PSLE. DSA is not for all-rounded students.
I'm sure your son will excel in his PSLE and get into his dream school that way. Good luck! -
breanne:
It's another WL for DS so back to square one and he needs to work hard for PSLE. I checked around a few friends with kids from different schools and it seems that the 80 mark benchmark is adopted by HCI too.
:congrats: to breanne and DS! I'm sure your WL will turn into a CO!
All the best and good luck! -

Ms Tay - your son's results are amazing! I did not refer to your older posts to see at which stage your son is rejected. But possible reasons are GAT (in the case of RI) and interview performance. It's a numbers game. For RI, around 180 out of 225 positions are taken up by GEPpers. Remaining small number caters to sportsmen and mainstream. First cut GAT. Due to sheer amount of mainstream applicants, if one does not cross GAT hurdle, I do not reckon that your submitted portfolio/file is being looked at ie the school would not know if a boy has done well consistently in pri sch, whether he's head prefect/prefect, whether he has won Edusave scholarship, how many High Distinctions in ICAS tests etc. For the HCI interview, and if he has made it through to interview stage for RI, it's the impression he has made on the interviewers.
We do walk away from DSA learning something about our kids' strengths and weaknesses. But, rejection in DSA has NO linkage to his academic ability. With his consistently remarkable results, I am sure your son can walk heads up high into RI/HCI with his official PSLE score. So many past examples have shown such for mainstream cases and in fact some of them scored way way above those who DSAed. 加油!!
