Pen88n:
It is a tough decision for the kid and his parents but it's the right thing to do, rather than staying on and eventually failing 'A' levels.
RI does not offer \"O\" Level programme. I've heard of a kid having to transfer out to another school due to inability to cope with IP programme.phtthp:
if a child struggle can't cope in RI, can he exit IP programme in RI, and switch back to take O level ?
or he got to transfer to another Secondary school ? -
TREX8:
:thank you: trex8!Thought DSA results for HCl must be out for the dsa thread to move so fast!
Congratulations to vlim, TwaTau, firefly38, PaddyField an'd Emelyn on your DS success at DSA for HCl.
Breanne, don't worry about your DS being on WL as seems like quite a few kids have COs from both RI and HCI and are opting for RI- so should have quite a high chance.
Pen88n, Publica and Mrs Tay, encourage your DS and support them all the way for PSLE.
Best of luck to all those who are still waiting for results.
Regardless of the results for DSA (whether CO, WL or Rejection), the important thing now is to get our DD/DS to 加油 and CHEONG for PSLE! -

I agree with the moral of your story, ie try DSA only for your dream school. But I do wonder if the boy would have struggled in HCI too, as his results were good enough to secure him a place in either RI or HCI anyway.Heard an interesting story in the past about how one mainstreamer end up landed in RI not to his desire. He dream school was HCI. Both RI and HCI rejected him at DSA but RVH accepted him. To be safe he accepted RVH DSA offer. When PSLE released he did well enough to go HCI and RI, so quickily went to appeal lor. Then RI accepted him and HCI put him on waiting list. Afraid that he ended nowhere to either of these schools, he took up RI. When he later struggle in RI, he regretted going for DSA.
Moral of the story : Try DSA only for your dream school, and focus on PSLE -

Errrrrr ....
They cramp only the best class( A class)Ms tay:
hi Ms tay,
is it they cramp all the P6 kids in the school like that, or cramp only a handful of students including your son ?
Including my son. Heard that they only focusing on the best class , while neglecting the rest. :slapshead:
Not Very Good Practice ....
Wow! Looks like the Sch is Going all out to Groom a Handful of Outstanding PSLE Students ....
but I think most of the sch behave like this leh. My DS previous sch also only have supplementary classes for best class from P2 onwards.
Whereas, the other classes don't have to.

Hi Yukilei,vlim:

My Ds said his senior received rejection letter too. But his score is < 80%. How abt ur Ds's classmates?
My DS score is 79.xx and he received WL for RI, and rejection for HCI and ACSI. The same for some of his classmates with <80%.
So your earlier question on whether Gepper with < 80% stands a higher chance in ASCI or HCI compared to RI, the answer is 'No'.
To prepare your DS, make sure he get >80%... -
Two schoolmates of ds , got offer to HCI , mainstreamers, with percentage over 90%.So far, in ds school, most boys who achieved more than 90 percent are selected by HCI.
Cheers -
Any updates on NJC DSA? I've been checking my email as well as the mail box, but nothing so far... :nailbite: :xedfingers:

Like I've said earlier, DSA process is not easy for Geppers too. At least, your DS still have WL fm RI. Hope his WL can turn into CO. Good Luck! -
Hi yukilei,
The 80% is actually comes from ca1+sa1... And and some daily assignments took up some percentage of ca1 or sa1.
That is to say.. To get the 80% mark, your ds cannot only do well for his p6 gep sa1. Next yr, your ds should be given a list of the subjects ca, SA, da marks weightage. Nevertheless try to do well this yr too.
Good luck
