The school will have to base on the students result to come out with their own mean , STD variation and so forth.... Understand some sch do work out their sch prelim t/score for the kids .. But of course it is not ,100% save to use it as a guideline as the whole spore p6 results mean and STD variation most likely will differ from tt of one school only...
But how you calculate the school T-score ?Ms tay:
Dear all,
if my ds scored 270 fr his prelim,
What will be the psle t-score ? My ds in neighborhood school. -
Otah:
The t-score unknown yet this is his aggregate score.

Sorry I not really understand what did u mean' STD variation and so forth...???
I just want to know usually what is the different btw prelim score and psle t-score ( just estimation)thks -
Ms tay:
The PSLE score is based on the following T-score formula.Dear vlim
Sorry I not really understand what did u mean' STD variation and so forth...???
I just want to know usually what is the different btw prelim score and psle t-score ( just estimation)thks
Formula for T-Score
T = (50 + 10 (X – Y))/Z
X = Raw score of student in the subject
Y = Average or Mean Score of the level or cohort
Z = Standard Deviation (SD) of the level or cohort
Standard Deviation (SD) is the spread of the marks
around the average.

That's why vlim was asking how you arrived at your child score. The school usually will release the min, max and the average, but so far I have not seen provision of SD to help you arrived at a t-score. -

I think maybe her son's school gave an estimation of the tscore

I just want to know usually what is the different btw prelim score and psle t-score ( just estimation)thks[/quote]No one can give you an answer to that because one school's standard is different from another. Also, the number you have given has not taken into consideration the std deviation and mean of your school. Some schools are able to project a student's PSLE T-score based on their school's historical T-score. For eg some schools are able to say that if you score 250 in their school's prelims, you're likely to score 260 at PSLE. So your best bet is to check with the school. -
phankao:
At this moment, the school has only it own statistic and past as reference to make an estimated t-score. It depends on the current school cohort and how close the school can set its exam with reference to PSLE.

That's why we have to have the PSLE as a national exam to calibrate everyone to a national standard for proper comparison. -
:thankyou: otah twatau jtoh vlim and phankaao
