DSA 2011

Went to open house at HCI and RI. HCI's talk for parents was impressvie. All speakers (including the year 1 boy and his dad) were good. HCI seemed working very hard to improve their attractiveness and standing (against \"RI\"). They appeared to have a lot of drive.
Think RI has the advantage of long impressive track record so did not work so hard to attract DSA students.
Any parent with children in both HCI and RI currently care to shade some light and share about what he/she thinks about these 2 instituions? Has HCI improved much on its attractiveness in recent years (I'm not just talking about academic performance but other aspects which you may consider when deciding which 1 to go for)? -
Pen88n:
Did your DS visit RI as well today? Their open house always have lots of games, experiments, trials to entice the kids.

Can you please share what is your feel of both schools? Please PM me if you do not wish to share openly. I've been to last year's open house and HCI and RI's culture are quite different. -

No Tim sum le.....
I was at the HCI open house with my son too today too
. The buffet was edible... cannot complain since it was free
I was impressed with the Sec 1 students reading their self-written scripts. Very good indeed.
All in all, a good event. I told my son that if he wanted to join the NCC, he would be doing another 6 years of National Service

So chief, is hcl your son first choice? If RI and HCI are abt equal distance from my house, I think I really got to think hard which one to choose :scratchhead: :scratchhead: -

Lolz. It's going to be pretty challenging for him to get in... I'm just hoping that the visit could spark something in him.Other then the fruit punch drinks that run out so fast .... They have prepared very sufficient amount of food for the visitors and their teachers and students Helpers.....

Went to open house at HCI and RI ....
Ha Ha ....
My turn to Report, Pen88n!
But for the Female Version ....

Went to Open House at NYGH and RGS ....
Did Not have much time to spend, as we have to cover both sch within one Morning. So did not attend the talk ....
I'm Equally impressed with Both Sch's Programme, Set up, CCA's, the sch's team of student Ambassadors in their reception, tour, handling of Parents queries and response ....
But One Glaring disparity is the Spanking New environment and Large, open space in NYGH ....
Vs ....
The Cramp, and Lack of Space (esp Sch Field, Canteen, Hall) in RGS ....
And Overheard One Parent is Very turn off by the Toilets in RGS ....
Of Course, at the current location of RGS, Not much can be done about it where space is concern ....
After the Brief open House Visit this morning, Both My Gal and I Agree that Both Sch R Good. Being Able to Study in either one is a Privilege ....
So We will proceed with our plan to try DSA for both Sch ....
