dear phankao, if i dont recall wrongly, your DS3 is currently schooling at Catholic High Primary School, isn't he? who says CHS is not a 'premier' school? and what makes you think that majority of the parents in this thread are from premier schools?

just becoz our kids are from GEP does not mean that we are any different from you. in fact, we are all the same.. ks parents who work hard to give the best to our kids.. parents who are here to share what we know.. and parents who are here to learn from each other.

so, please do not belittle yourself or your DS just becoz he is not from GEP or from your so-called 'premier' school. can't help but noticed that no parents in this forum draw a line between GEP parents & non-GEP parents, as clearly as you do.

so, please stop being so 'sour' always (and rude sometimes), and spoil the mood of the friendly discussions going on here. no offence please, phankao.. just my humble opinion.

      firefly38,

think u misunderstood, I think phankao was kinda kidding abt it with vlim. Since i came to this forum, she has been extremely helpful and willing to share information.

anyway, we are not suppose to get personal with our comments, in case u forgot. :imanangel: :imanangel:

I also agree, all kids have the same footing once they start secondary education at their respective schools. By Sec 3, nobody bothers about this GEP thingy anymore. Each child needs to study hard and focus to achieve to the best of their abilities.

The GEP route simply pushes them to get a head start, helping each other along due to a mix of cooperation and peer pressure amongst them.

      Peace πŸ™

agreed. phankao isn't as described. don't think ever come across such impression on phankao

      may be misunderstood something

6 yrs ahead is very far ....

i personally know of a 20 year old boy. His PSLE score was only 201 (barely cross the express stream hurdle) - definitely not a Geper, and studied in an ulu, remote neighbourhood Secondary school, unheard of. But today, he is awarded an overseas scholorship to US by a prominent famous foreign bank - where all his fees, accomodation are all provided for.

the main thing is ... how you END at the finishing line that matters, not so much the starting point.
            Phtthp :goodpost:

100% agree. Was talking to a IP school boy who got into local medical school. He said that in his IP school, those who did extremely well by year 6 are mainly original mainstreamers. He remarked that the line is blurred between GEPpers and mainstreamers after a short while in secondary school.

The kid is only as good as the last exam that he took, meaning the next exam is a fresh game again.

IMHO, must strike a balance between pursuit of excellence and giving them a decent childhood. Don't end up chasing a wild goose and also missing on good childhood/teenage memories :stupid: :slapshead:

GEP, non GEP - All of us jiayou! :grphug:

RA is for RI, HCI has CSE, Bicultural prog etc, etc etc each school has their own special program beyond the SBGE
