Hi all

This is my first time posting...

I am asking if the schools for DSA look at P4 results. The reason i am asking is my son who is in GEP did really very badly for hi P4 mid term. So this will affect his grades cos' P4 mid term < 80 marks....

      Pls advise....

      No they don't.

I will not say \"No\". The criteria for the 80% at P6 (mainly from RI) is to decide whether the child needs to take GAT or not. One school did require us to enter P4, P5 and P6 results in their online application, but can't remember which school was it. I am sure the DSA secondary school will still see the performance over the 3 years, of which they can determine the consistency of the child performance. I will still suggest for the child to do his/her best over the 3 years in GEP.
I guess it depends on the school you apply to. The schools I know of only asked for P6 SA1 and P5 results online and in person. No requests for P4 school results at all. Although some schools do ask you to list your achievements, so you can merrily list your P4 UNSW / SMOPS results if you want to.

As what Twatau has mentioned the criteria of >80% for p6 gep ca1+sa1 result, is for RI to deter whether the applicants need to sit for GAT or not.
Anyway since your ds is only in p4 gep this yr, so he still got time to improve himselve and get better grades for future ct and sa ..and of course he has to put in more efforts. 😄

supermumto3, think this is something we can't advise as it all has to depend on the schools. But don't stress yourself too much now. Try to help him now, see where is his weakness & use work hard on it for the next 1.5yrs.

hi supermumto3 ~ i wouldn’t worry too much about the child not doing too well for P4 mid term. i think they take into account that for the first half of P4, the kids are still adjusting to the GE program, and for some even to a new school as well.

Tks jtoh and Blur Dad for the additional info. What I've shared is my experience with SOTA and what I know about NYGH.

Personally, I feel that it is very unsettling for the kids (and their parents, too) if the school gives the idea that there is a chance of conversion from WL to CO after release of DSA results. Then there seems to be no end of waiting for news.

Seems like alot of waiting and uncertainty. First wait to be called up for GAT/interview, then wait for DSA results, then wait for the letter/email to convert WL to CO.
I wrote an email to SOTA to give up DD's CO but was told to do so by not putting SOTA as our choice when submitting the form online on 24 Oct.

My personal opinion is that schools which have already given letters with COs to the kids are not likely to risk giving away these places to those on WL, in case there is a change of mind. That is, to inform those on WL in black and white that theirs is now a confirmed offer based on the number of students with CO who have indicated that they are giving up their places....

Hi TREX8. Thanks for sharing. Just to add, I believe there's a deadline by which schools must give MOE their final list of COs and WLs in order for MOE to process the DSA forms. So if the schools are informed before the deadline of students who wish to give up their COs, they can (if they choose to) upgrade the WLs to COs. There were schools in the past who have written to confirm changing WLs to COs in September so that could be how they do it.

              Hi jtoh

              Thanks for sharing.

This is what I understand from ACSI DSA talk. ACSI P & VP mentioned that they will convert those WL to CO when there are vacancies.
Well at least there is still hope. :xedfingers:

Worse case is waiting for rejection letter that never arrive and that give you false hope that the previous CO letter may have been lost during it's delivery :?

Think I’ll send them an email if still nothing by end of the week.

Ya, think you've to email them. Maybe you should also insist that they check for you on the status of your DS. I believe they do have records on the students with CO.
