That guess doesn't sound so realistic bc why would they bother to check with all the schools? And why would RI or HCI bother to oblige NJC? And then are we also saying NJC could've checked with other schools like NUSH and ACSI and DHS and RVHS? Some students who applied to NJC did not apply to RI or HCI at all. futhermore, in the DSA application form to NJC, it does not ask for \"what other schools are you applying DSA for\", so wouldn't NJC be like doing many searches in vain? Neither does NJC's application form ask for grades on the form. NJC also does not ask for any supporting documents until they have already shortlisted. Which means they shortlist based on teh HAST test or, possibly as one parent suggested - including the personal statement submitted on the application form.Otah:
it seems that if the students have received an offer in either RI/HCI they will get rejection letter from NJC. THink they might have checked it out with the two schools tt's why take so long to reply.
One of my fren's son was rejected by HCI DSA but got NJC CO offer. After PSLE he still based on T-score to switch to HCI. However, for all his classmates who received HCI dsa offer, all got rejection letter from NJC after going thru the entire DSA phrases with NJC.wonderm:
Actually, it is not that hard to believe.This is very interesting. If NJC makes DSA offers independently, it is hard to imagine that their selection criteria being so different from other schools. If this speculation is true, it is also very surprising in that:
1. the schools share their DSA offer namelist with other schools?
2. NJC assumes that all good students would choose another IP school over itself?
It is really hard to believe.
I think for those who have gone thru the whole DSA process with NJC, the interview is the decider. And from my understanding, most of the interviewees will be asked either
a) which school you prefer and why ?
b) what other schools have you applied for ?
c) questions pertaining to COs or WL from other IP schools
These does not straightaway cancel their names from CO of course, but from the way the P6 kids answer those questions, they can guess if they are keen elsewhere or not, and also if they already make up their mind.
As I said, last year, DS classmate, who had CO from RI, HCI, NUSH, but whose parents wanted him to go NJC was asked along those lines. But when asked why he would want to come to NJC, he said, because my parents want me to :nailbite: :nailbite:
He was rejected.
I am sure many of those who applied performed well i the HAST test and interviews, but it could be how much they really want to join NJC. And as we all know, most GEPpers a bit 'haotai', will mostly choose RI or HCI ( RGS or NYGH ) over NJC most of time.

He did a classical piece. I have a feeling that they placed great consideration on the portfolio, not just the audition.

Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary)
Raffles Institution
The other 4 schools that offer the IP are:
River Valley High School
National Junior College
Temasek Junior College

\"hao tai\" does sound like a hokkien word which my grandfather used to scold me & my siblings when we were small, for being.. well.. stupid (not that we were, but in his eyes lah!).
