Same thought here. In fact, just need to apply one day on 21/10 and can plan the holiday from 14/10 (if the departure is at night) until 23/10. 😄

apply one day referring to sch right? For working parents, still need to apply full 5 days.... no PSLE marking day off for us... I also wish I could arrange during PSLE marking days.. but Oct is a busy month for me for work...
And if your P6 have older sibling in sec or younger sibling ds/dd in primary, they will all be busy having EOY exam/SA2 unless the younger sibling is in GEP. That is why till now I have not been able to take vacation on PSLE marking days all these years.

This year the release of S1 posting results is on 21 Dec 2011 and pupils are to report to secondary schools for registration on 22 Dec 2011 at 8.30 am.
Good good. Mine's going on a trip with school and back just day before posting results so should be fine to report to school on 22 Dec 2011. Just nice.

haha - we are going off during marking days with the youngest. Not bringing the p6. The older siblings in JC/sec are just going to have to manage on their own! They are old enough!

            Hi

I think the best time to go for a week holiday break is during the PSLE marking days, 17 - 20 Oct (Mon Thu). The rest of the pri and sec school students are busy with their exam.
            That's the problem.
Got DS2 who will be in between exams then.

Hi, phankao, where is your ds going? Most school trips end in Nov for P6 students. Just curious. 😄
Hi Yukilei

Your DS is in P5 right? Should be busy with P5 final exams in Oct? When is the GEP P4 & P5 final exams this year?
This year, P5 will finish their exam on 13th Oct 2011, before PSLE Marking day! Last year was before too! Oral starting this week, Math Investigation paper next week.

Yukilei,
I thought the Math Investigation paper is this Wed? :?
oh, you're right!!!! I sotong.... Basically don't know what they'll be tested on for this. No way to practise at home. DS always said that teacher has been revising with them.. so can't register in my head 😉

there are two appeal periods :

                    (1) if already gotten DSA confirmed offers, appeals is on PSLE result day or immediately after it – around Nov 24 ? many people recall last time I was against this appeal because it is against principle of a committed decision. but since all the schools are facilitating the transfer and appeal, I am no longer against it

                    (2) if there was no DSA offers, and Sec one school choice is via S1 Posting exercise, the appeal is immediately after the release of the posting result, which is Dec 21 this year

so the best holiday period is between PSLE result day and posting result day, assuming there are other kids having to take EOY exams…

vk2010, you mean when the child has accepted Sch A CO on 28th Oct, then change mind upon receiving PSLE result. The child has to appeal to Sch B (I believe have to check with Sch B on appeal process) immediately after PSLE result? Do you know when will the result of appeal be informed?

the result will be made known asap, according to the schools. reason being they want to free up the slots for the WL asap. some got the appeal result by a phone call less than 24 hours after submission, some have to wait a couple of days....some waited all the way till S1 posting date ....some after posting date ..... i suspect there is a ranking for those who are on appeals

the \"top\" ip schools said it this way : \"the process starts with us and trickle down, so that the slots can be given to others on the wait list asap, our schools will co-ordinate......\"
