anyone attend Cedar Secondary School DSA today ? how is it ?

Yes, I went with dd to the open house at Cedar. We were quite impressed by the presentation from the girls and the principal. Seems to portray a wholesome academic environment for a child to be in.

        Hi,

I've read somewhere that if GEP student score below average of 80%, he will have to sit for GAT test for RI DSA. Is it also the same for HCI? If he did not pass the GAT test, can he still proceed to interview? Basically, is it possible for GEP student to apply RI & HCI for normal IP prog? For HCI, if manage to get > 80%, what's the 2nd stage?

For DSA in the GEP domain, only RI has this criteria of >80% overall spelt out in the DSA application. If the children meet this criteria and get shortlisted, they will just need to go through an interview . For HCI shortlisted candidates, they will have to do a Free response written test and interview on 9 July. This is what I have gathered from their online application site.

        Thks TwaTau,
I include HCI because someone has also mentioned abt the 80% overall for HCI. I wonder what is the free response written test about. Do you happen to know whether GEP student can apply DSA not thru GEP domain. I only hope that my Ds can secure a \"better\" school before PSLE. He is only in P5 now. Result so far borderline 80%. But am afraid he'll fall below. So am checking what other option he has.

Aiyo, kancheong parent. Got to pace yourself, if you are starting to worry now, then by next year, you will go pop!

Joke aside, the school will probably not allow the GEP to apply under non-GEP domain, and it will be kind of unfair to the non-GEP kids. I don’t think the GEP students will have too much trouble with GAT. It is one additional test he will hav to go through, and to go non-GEP domain, you DS will have to do even more tests!

For the Gat Test, the time frame is 1 hr and the questions are about 100. Get to read it from the DSA documents.

For those non-GEP student that get borderline cases of 79.8% on average of P5 mid, P5 final and P6 mid year result, do they have chances to apply for DSA? My DS get this result and interested in DHS. Not sure whether he has any chance.

I think there's no harm trying.
