Thanks so much! I very much want to share my DS confidence ... :xedfingers: except this year's paper seems easy and I hear that when the exam is generally easy, T-scores tend to be lowered πŸ˜“ and believe that COP for top schools will be higher :slapshead: ? HELP !

Less than 28 hours to go before the deadline for submission of DSA preference.

Please remember to submit before that.

DS1 and his P6 schoolmates are in Bintan now for their school P6 camp.
Hopefully everyone has submitted their forms.
Or else when they return on Sat evening, can start crying already.
Yes. My friend forgot to submit for her dd a few years ago and they both cried buckets.

Don't worry too much about the COP. If your son is confident he performed well and scores among the top 3% he should be able to get into RI. Never mind what the COP is.

            not true

the water level rises with the tide

just make sure you are ahead in the cohort, at the front end of the queue, you will be fine

If T score is lower across the board, COP will have to move lower too.
Or else they can't fill up the places available.
So it definitely won't go up.

                  hi SuperKiasu,

we are just expressing our personal views of course, but if it was me - I would go along with yr son's wishes. He is confident, and these kids never cease to amaze me on what they can do to achieve what they WANT.

Remember last yr ? Some boys could not get into RI via appeal, even though they scored 262/263 and the COP was 259 ( so S1 applicants got in the normal route ). The fact that indications are that appeals will be frown upon this year ( first from HCI principal, and then RGS email ), appeal may not be the wisest choice. As jtoh said, if yr DS is so confident, he will be able to meet VS criteria even if ( touch wood ) he does not meet RI's COP.

Good luck to you and yr DS.

                  TREX8:

Checked my email after submitting DSA option online and got an email from RGS. The gist of the email is to highlight that

\"DSA is a two way commitment - schools will honour the offer made to the student and the student, should likewise, commit to the school once he/she accepted the offer. Thus schools should not accept transfer requests by DSA student solely based on PSLE results, however well these students have done in the recent PSLE.\"

This part sounds like something generic from MOE. So far, only received email from RGS, nothing from NYGH nor SOTA. Any other schools send out this letter?

Guess it could be part of MOE's directive to discourage transfers after accepting a DSA offer.

If this year PSLE is equivalent to last year easy papers, COP will most likely stay at ard same level as last year for top IPs. Just that top scorers' T scores will not be that high as 280s and the high scores will all be crammed together at certain range. For example last year 2010 easy papers so only 1 boy above 280, very few 270s and most schools' top boy/girl get mid-high 260s. Those who were stronger in Languages tend to score better last year cos Math and Science were not difficult.
But I thought that they say this year Math paper tougher than last year got some tricky questions. A better balanced paper I heard. Plus Science also slightly more tricky than last year. If so, we should see better spread of scores and not a repeat of last year. πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‰
