DSA 2011

Is there a diff using academic route vs sport route thru DSA? Heard that the kids will have to commit themselves for 4yrs Abd parents have ti sign undertaking form for it. How abt academic route? Does parent require to undertake as well?
-
Since MOs is for P6, is it still in time for them to use it and apply for DSA. When will the test rake place? TIA
-
Sori, I mean which month will the competition start since most school start their application for DSA takes place from Apr to June?
-
MO for P6 usually takes place between Apr - May, and the result comes in on time for the DSA entry
to prepare for MO, the courses starts in Pri 5
there are various centres that run prep course for NMOS (prep in pri 4 for pri 5 contest), RIPWMC, SMOPS etc.
some schools do run AMEC but is too short and too near to MO dates
most kids start MO as an enrichment or hobby, and continue on when they realise they have the aptitude for it
scoring MO at the top will certainly attract interest from NUSH and HCI and useful for DSA, but RI seems to have other idea - they always stress "ability beyond peers" β they have their own subject domain selection test which is very challenging -
Hi verykiasu2010,
Thank you very much. -

SMOPS is only for P6s. NMOS is only for P5s. RIPMWC is for P5s and P6s but most people who take part in it are P6. IMO, RIPMWC is the most difficult, so better take prep course before taking. This explains the \"RIP\" part.
If you can do well in RIPMWC, getting into RI is no problem. -

Scaredmummy, maybe sec sch like NJC, etc will be more of level playing field.
Scaredmummy, to summarise, it is difficult for mainstreamers to DSA via academic route. Most probably easier to get to dream school via S1 posting instead
A Number of my Gal's Classmates got CO from NJC, via Academic Main Stream.

Blur Dad:
Hi Blur Dad, is your Apple from China or England, or some other places? Wherever it comes from, I wish your Apple will 'transform' into a Dragon Fruit, or even a Durian, on Harvest Day!! Good Luck!!!
Hi vlim / firefly38
Thank you
Hope DS will get his Durian (King of Fruits) eventually. Have been in dilemma whether to apply for the only WL(apple) on hand or not, however to be KS, we have applied for the WL just in case.

NJC has no specific fields for DSA.

Everyone goes thru the HAST test. Top 200 selected for round 2.
Then they chose 20% from round two (for this year at least).
