DSA 2011

PiggyLalala:
Around April, I think every gep holding school will prepare abt 2 or 3 sessions of dsa preparation class for the p6 geppers to attend. From these sessions, the teachers will highlight to them what are the possible questions tt will be asked during dsa interviews and the do and don't...You may like to check with your ds form teacher next year abt these dsa preparation sessions..
Nothing much really. Make sure he does well for the common tests and SA1 next year. Put all the certificates that he has into a file. ALso all the termly feedback forms from P4 to P6. Nearer to the DSA date, just photocopy everything and put into a file. It is quite simple not very complicated.Lovemama:
 Next year will be my son turn to go thru this stressful process....
My son is in P5 GEP this year, he is interested in RI, so what he need to prepare
before the DSA in April next year, a bit kiasu here. Please advise
I planned to prepare all the necessary stuff during this Dec holiday..
Did I miss out anything? Maybe others can help too.
emmm..quite useful la....but the most useful tips would be from ksp forum
...So when you are free, please start reading from page one of this thread and you will find out the various dsa interview qns asked.
From past years, it seems like those geppers getting above 80% for sa1+ca1, will get CO from RI, but this year the trend seem to change...a few getting above 80% didn't get a CO instead they got a WL....
One more thing to add, to be exempted from the RI gat, your kid p6 SA1+ ca1 must be more then 80%. Hope this will apply to next yr RI dsa criteria also... -

Ya I have actually extracted few tips from the front page,
. My DS didn't participate in any competitions except UNSW, so I really worry only the SA1 + CA1 result plus UNSW certificates are not convincing enough to get CO as I am thinking only apply RI for him.

Hi lovemMama,
Personally I feel tt it is very risky to apply DSA to one school only ESP the one is RI  .... Baseline is > 80% and if he doesn't have Gd maths Olympiads or Sci olympiads, having Gd leadership record Luke headprefect role might help or some other outstanding ability .....
However the final decisions still fall on the DSA school hand .... So please think abt it carefully .. And I would say it would be best to try 2 schools at least..... Otherwise it would be a nightmare even if you can get a waitlist ... -

I understand that is safer to apply 2 schools but I worry if other school offerred my DS whereas RI put my DS on WL, then I will have to scratch my head harder to decide which one to take...this will also give me nightmare...Really appreciate your help. :thankyou: -
I agree with Vlim. There is no harm applying for another one or two. If all 3 COs, you can choose one. If you apply for one and no CO or WL, you cannot turn back to clock to apply for other schools.

No problem lovemama... Anyway this is just my opinion, if you have decided to let your Ds try for RI DSA only then go for it... And maybe u can use this reason to motivate your Ds to work hard so tt with Gd psle score he can go to RI even thru S1 moe posting ... Having say tt, wish your Ds can a CO from RI next yr :rahrah:vlim:
