Of course. P6 are old enough to take public transport. Most kids take public transport in secondary school, unless they're living so far away their parents can't bear to see them waste time on public transport. But seriously some do really let their kid go alone by public transport right ?
My wife keep telling me the kid should be big enough to do so already. -
Oh, I've been scanning in all the certs all this while. So when need just print out, no need organize to photocopy .
Photocopying or scanning is relatively simple; certifying can't be done at home.
So what u need do is scan the certified copies? Wu Liao. How to see that it's genuinely certified ith a scanned copy? Strange practice.
I rmbe last time my ds1, no need to certify for RI and NJC, but that SST need to certify. And for my ds2, DHS dun need certify but his own affiliated school need certified copies. looks like the more well known schools not so KS. In our experience for those few schools lah
I suppose they can check the authenticity of the certificates when the kids go for the interviews. -
ngbrdad:
Chill ngbrdad! You almost make me feel guilty :skeptical:Someone need to send the kid to RI for the test right ?
Do you people let you kid travel there alone on public transport ?
11- 12 yrs , i am sure can handle public transport. Well DD started to take MRT indepependently since mid P5.
In fact i felt it safer when she took bus/MRT , compared to when she had to take a cab. But we had our own safety protocol , and of course had some anxious moments
Yeah But not to a unfamiliar route , and definitely not before an exam ...

I said that photocoping certificate slips or scanning certificates/result slips can be done at ease or at our convenient time, but not certifying the photocopies because not any Tom, Dick or Harry can do it.
Thank-you.

I brought my ds' whole stack of copies of his certs - some 30 pieces and the school office certified them all in no time yesterday. Took her all of 10mins, maybe?
Let me clarify.

Belle.
It took me way longer printing and sorting them all out (ok lah - to make her job easier too). -

Really - those schools didn't need to see the original certs/documents at all. I also just clarified with DHS this week on whether the certs/documents need to be certified - they said no need. I was impressed that my email sent at 5pm was replied at 10pm the same evening!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just saying that for schools that request online certified true copies, they can ask for the hard copies later on.

Anyway, who's so silly to falsify documents. It's just DSA. And it's so easy for the DSA schools to find out whether the documents submitted are true or not. The info's easily available from the relevant bodies and also from the primary schools. -

at a DSA-success admission briefing, the admin say please let the boys take public transport to / from school so that they know what common folks are going through....and one day if they become transport minister, they will know what problems need to be fixed...that was in Dec 2010.....
now these days after the May 2011 election we see the new transport minister taking bus, mrt, lrt, trying to feel what is life like for the common folks struggling with the public transport .... .....wow, now looking back we can see that the RI teacher was not joking !! must truth was said in jest ! -
