Chickenpox’s incubation period is about 2 weeks so it’s hard to say who a child is infected by. It’s usually mild for young children but would hit an adult hard. Even the vaccination is not very effective. Both my kid and maid were vaccinated by one dose and still caught chickenpox although it was mild. I recommend that parents with young kids check the caregivers’ chickenpox status, whether it’s the maid, grandparents or parents themselves. If not immune, adults should get 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine spaced about 1 month apart. Also keep a close watch of the kids in a class with chickenpox going around. Within 24 hours of any sign of chickenpox (typically small red marks all over the body), go to a PD or KKH (if at night) and start acyclovir. Some GPs do not have the child version of acyclovir. Taken in time, my experience is that the symptoms are very mild - almost no marks.

Whitley is a pretty new branch. It's the one near Catholic JC rite? Why are they closing down? :scratchhead:

I am thinking of taking my child out from aroozoo centre. Have been very unhappy with them since September 2012.

I agreed the facilities and food are pretty good but the negativeness far outweighs the pros of this centre.
I agreed with the teachers’ complacency that someone else raise up in this forum. What I see now is that the teachers react only when the parents remind them about things. I do not want to write in detail because my child will still be there. Even the principle is complacent, from her behaviour and I get the feeling that she’s only doing things to make her centre look good rather than being concerned about the children. I am now looking for another childcare centre.
In terms of programme, many of the things they indicate are not being carried out not due to unforeseen circumstances.
The price is not worth the programme because my child learns more from me at night after coming back from Pat’s Schoolhouse.
Hopefully, I can quickly find another centre to put my kid in so I can withdraw totally.

Can anyone advise if withdrawal before starting at the centre, will the confirmation fee of a month be given back?

With founder Patricia Koh leaving Pat’s schoolhouse and joining Cherie Hearts as their new CEO, do parents notice any change in Pat’s Schoolhouse focus? More profit-oriented or still business as usual?

Patricia Koh has already left. In fact, the staff were probably aware a few months back as a letter was given in the communication book.

I believe her leaving plays a big part in the way things are done now and sad to say, I doubt it will get better since I was hoping for things to get better for a while. I was really happy with the facilities because I wanted my child to have fun while learning so even though I was aware that my child wasn’t learning a lot, I closed one eye but it has reached the stage where I think it will be foolish of me as a parent to continue.
Now that there’s no one to really oversee all the centres, it’s really up to individual centres management. It’s also why I do not trust in centres that are franchised no matter what the brand name.
Before, Pat’s Schoolhouse was Patricia Koh’s project so she has a inclination for it to do well and to address parent’s fears on the forum. Now, who’s going to care since parents are still enrolling kids. Only when the centres loses money and more and more students then will the principles and management react.

                    Hi DelightinKids,

Care to share a summary of the unpleasant incidents? Am enrolling my daughter into their playgroup, this coming Jan 2013 in Aroozoo. Having 2nd thoughts now there’s not much good feedbacks for this branch so far?

the land at Pat’s Schoolhouse (Whitley outlet) has been sold. Hence, they are closing down.

                        Hi delight,

I think you can call and speak to Florence at aroozoo to find out, else you can call KU and ask to speak to accounts citing your child’s name.

I got my deposit back and made my withdrawal request july on the 10 of the month and my girl left end of August.
