Should try HCI if IS school fee is not a concern. BTW, was he offered EESIS to cover IS fee?Hi all
just want to take this opportunity to thank all who had ever advised me when i was helping my ds to prepare for the exams.
He got 255 +2 for HC. I was happy for him cause he should be able to get into catholic high...
now, qtn is, should he try for HCI , cut off was 257 last year. I was hoping that he can get into IP school but if he just makes it, will it be too tough for him? in other words, will he be a small fish in a v big pond?
also considering Victoria. but the down side is it is a bit far from my place at Toa Payoh. any advice on how should i place the schools in the school selection form?

My advice is to go for HCI. My DS went in at 257 which was the COP for last year. He did well in sec 1 and was amongst top 10 in class. Some of his friends with much higher PSLE scores than him didn't do as well as him. So, it doesn't matter what is the PSLE score. The moment you enter sec school, everything \"reset\" to zero and everyone is on the same starting point again.Hi all

thks all once again for the advice
er, i didn’t see any EESIS stuff in the form which means he is not offered. just wondering, what is the score required to be offered EESIS?
once in sec school, everything reset to zero? i always have the impression that the GEP students will always perform better than the mainstream kids whether in primary or secondary school.
in any case, will put HCI first choice so if he gets in, he will be in the IP programme?
also, he is eligible to take up 3rd language. what is the take up rate for 3rd language and should go for it or not, since they already have so many subjects plus cca to cope with?

Hey!
I'm wondering if you can recommend any schools for my cousin. She lives in Toa Payoh, got 253 for her psle and wants to get a list of recommendations of good schools she could apply to. She would like it if the schools were nearby (based in the south?).
She went to CHIJ Toa Payoh primary and would like to try something else. She says that she would like a school with IP if possible.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

GEP will do well , but i guess there is no difference between 257 others much higher like 260 plus. Everyhting set to 0 , i agree . My DD got in in 'One of the better one' girls school at the last cut off point & stood 8 th in class.. 25 in 350 students. So it depends on how you adjsut to SEc school. Also students with good Language skills do well in SEC.thks all once again for the advice

HCI doesn't take OLevels , so i guess whole intake will be IP program. -

My son got 195 points. He got B C B. He is exempted from mother tongue. It may not be a very good mark for some of you but I am extremely proud of him. He got a chance to chose NA or Exp. Why am I proud of him? Because he has a learning difficulty and still managed to do this well. :rahrah: I know the amount of anixiety he was under before the exams. But he still made me proud.
I am sure he will be model to other children with learning difficulties. We have decided to opt for NA in a school with good special needs support. All the best all 2010 students you have done your best.
:rahrah: U R ONE Supportive Parent!

RGS is a very good school but you need to talk to her to see if she wants to go. If she doesen't, you shouldn't force her to go as she won't perform to her full ability if she doesen't really want to go.my daughter psle is 264+3
should i appeal for RGS?
If she does, I think she should go for it but you should also make use of the other options and fill up all 6 choices.
