This is the reply I got from Mensa SG when I emailed them in Sep:

Our testing age group starts from 14 years & above.
As your child is below 14 years old, you need to bring your child to any Psychology doctor/clinic for a WISC-R test. Upon receiving of your report from the psychologist, kindly forward it to Mensa Singapore. The testing officer will view the report, whether the result meets Mensa criteria and will revert to the parent. This is how Mensa Singapore accept younger children to join the society.

Mensa Singapore does not do any recommendation for this test.

      Thank you.

      Regards,

PS: We didn’t proceed further. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

          Fairy:

And, its the top 2% of the general population - not sure how they determine that.

There's usually a percentile indicated on the IQ report.

So I suppose they are looking at the 98 percentile in a bell curve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_distribution

Seem not much benefits. Read in that thread not much activities for junior members.

Benefit - maybe just the honour of being a mensa member?

                        Hi all,

As the child is too young for normal testing, you may approach any registered psychologist for IQ testing for their child (http://singaporepsychologicalsociety.org/). However, following psychologists do perform this service:

Nicon Chin, Mensa Singapore's resident psychologist:
                        Psychologist/Cert.
                        Hypnotherapist
                        Psychological Therapy Centre
                        Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre #09-02
                        3 Mt Elizabeth
                        Singapore 228510

                        Wilson Chan
                        Registered Psychologist (Singapore)
Diplomate, American Academy of Special Education Professionals
MA (App. Psychology), BSc (Hons, C1), Dip Ed, BCSE, MSPS, Assoc APA, member of MENSA
                        Gifted Academy, Singapore
                        165, Bukit Merah Central #03-3665 S150165
                        Tel: +65-93832244
                        Email: [email protected]
                        Website: http://www.gifted-academy.com.sg

It is entirely in your discretion whether the child should undergo such IQ test and if so, which psychologist to approach (for avoidance of doubt, the psychologist does not have to be from the above list).
