I put 2 $1 coins and 1 $2 note in my DS wallet daily.

the 2 $1 coins are for him to buy snack & milk during recess. The $2 note is emergency, like he drop the coins and they rolled away & disappeared.

so far (5 days  ) he has no touch the $2 note.

          Thanks for the advice.

Food prices are mostly $0.80 and $1. Milk is $0.90. Thus $2 allowance.

So far I take back the loose change and what he did not use, and replace back with the 2 $1 coins. He will also account for what he spent his money on.

I also cant see how BASC food could be worst than the canteen food πŸ˜„

ACS(I) is the same price as ACS(P), 70 cents for a prata and $1 for a plate of pasta. And my mum picks me up. WHen she doesn't I take the bus home and pay for that with my EZ-link card. That also has $16.82.

My DD is in P1 and I gave her $1.40 as she will usually buys her favourite noodles that cost $0.60. She is allowed to add on chicken nuggets or sausages or fish balls for $0.30 each and the remaining amt will be saved in the piggy bank.

I disallow her to buy cold sweetener drinks and titbits and unneccessary stationery. She refills her water bottle from the water cooler.

Last night she told me the book shop sells ballons (wonder why? for what har?) and asked me if she could buy and play with it.( she already has a few left over from previous party) Of course I told her 'no' and she readily said' ok'....

My stand is: if you set some rules right at the begining, abide by it and your child will, eventually abide by it, too. πŸ˜„
