How does the JC allocation system work
Allocate students by pts only or choice matters ?
what if two kid got 7 pts (after minus 2 bonus) who will got in first OR lucky draw?
Thanks!
Posting Process
Applicants are posted to a course based on merit according to their net aggregate scores (taking into account the various bonus points for which applicants are eligible for). Applicants with better net aggregate scores will be considered for admission first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected course. If there are no vacancies, the applicants will be considered for their next choice course.
In situations where there are two or more applicants with the same net aggregate score vying for the last place in a course, they will be posted based on their citizenship status in the order of Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents and then International Students. If there is still a tie, for example between two Singapore Citizens with the same net aggregate score, the one with the better gross aggregate score will be posted to the course first. If there is still a tie between the two citizens with the same gross aggregate scores, posting to the course will be determined by a computerised ballot where each candidate is given an equal opportunity. -

All the \" Raw \" 7 pointers will go in first, before the \" Nett \" 7 pointers, because the Raw score of these Nett 7 pointers, are actually higher than the school's COP 7

Also, read the website for subject combination, because some JCs imposed the strict condition that if want to do H2 pure Science, u need to score minimum B3 for that O level subject, while other JCs never impose such condition -

It's not that \"RI gives students more chance to do 4H2\". It's because most of the students already meet the criteria to do 4 H2 and are seen as capable of being stretched without adversely affecting their UAS. There's little point in trying to do 4 H2s when you are likely to score better with 3H2s + 1 H1.
Actually u take more did not mean u can not cope with, it all depend all u schedule and plan your time.
All good schools such as RI give students more chance such as 4H2.
SA JC 4H2 requires 9 raw score for L1 R5 and each subject needs score B3 above.
If the student has 9 raw scores, I did not think that student will enroll into SA JC.
I understand the load of H2. I just think educator should give students more chance to learn more knowledge.
Some secondary school don’t even form a class for 3 sciences.
My child’s friend who took jc in three years with 4 H2, eventually she got into NUS Dentistry. That is really example.
How did your child's friend do JC in 3 years? All JCs have a 2 year course. The exception is MI which does their syllabus in 3 years. MI is not classified as a JC. The only way someone can do JC in 3 years is if they repeated a year. -

Retained in JC1 perhaps?

If you are planning to go overseas, it may be good to ensure that the H2s you are doing meet the prerequisites for the course you are interested in. I am not sure how H1s are regarded.
If studying locally, then it's UAS-dependent. -

Net before gross.
I’ve just copy and paste the answer from MOE post before you. -
@ jtoh, It is not retained jc1, it is MI. The RV 4H2 is 10 raw points + each subject grade above B3. 3H2 +1H1. Then if the score is good, encourage u take H3. That is ridiculous.

Hi
My boy got 7 points for O levels after deducting 4 points for Higher Chinese and CCA.
We are staying in Lorong Chuan/Serangoon area.
The following are the few JCs that we have shortlisted.
1. ACJC
2. National JC
3. Eunoia
4. Dunman
We initially thought of putting NYJC as the first choice, but cut off point was 6 last year, so chances may be slim.
Any inputs on the above JCs? We like ACJC, but we find it rather far from our place.
What is the culture like in these four JCs?
Does anyone has the A level results of these JCs?
Thanks in advance! -

If you like NYJC, you should just put. Like S1 posting, it’s merit before choice. Who knows, you might just get it. Given that there are 12 choices, you can definitely spare a few slots.
