Actually a lot of the 24X kids score well at O levels and want the freedom to choose any JC. In fact, I think a good number of 25X kids are in the O level programme at MGS, SCGS, SNGS and CHS. There are also 25X kids at CCHS, Nan Hua High etc - they opted not to do IP also in part because they want the freedom to choose JCs or Poly courses later on.
      Cant agree more.
But here Im refer to higher range scorers 24X who wish to pursue an IP JC Education from sec 1 but denied as current trend need 250 above to qualify.

Moe hopes to produce potential leaders from RI,HCI.
Latest is Ejc with 3 affialities Sec but cop 252 more.

Given opportunity to experience IP sec in upper tier 24X sec school and later in Nyjc, eventually these kids can too excel just like peers from RI,HCI or EJC.

As in Moe is think'g allowing more kids to enrol under Phase 2C in popular pri schs from next yr or so.

location-wise crescent girls are at the opposite end of the island though lol 🙂

        Ya right, I know.
Nan Hua can consider as many CGSS & esp NH kids do opt Nyjc regardless of its distance.

Moe shd consider having higher range T Score 24X kids experience IP Education from sec 1.

        To prevent Elistism brewing.

If Singapore's student population continue to expand and if Sg need more IP Secondary schools in future, Yes, going forward,
Crescent Girls Secondary is one of the potential schools to convert into IP, together with a few other potential schools as well, like

Nan Chiau High, Nan Hua High, Chung Cheng High, Anderson Secondary.

can't recall which year, but Anderson Secondary PSLE admission COP was 247, pretty high !

After all, didn't MOE convert both
(River Valley High & Dunman High), into \" IP \" as well ?

RV High and Dunman High are Not Junior Colleges, in the first place. These two High schools started off with just being Secondary schools. Later, then add in 2 more post-Secondary, additional years of A-level. Hey presto, from that point onwards,
their status changed over night, become \"IP\" schools.

River Valley High & Dunman High operate differently from (Victoria / National / Temasek) JC mode.

VJC, NJC and TJC, these three, started off as Junior Colleges , first. They were never Secondary schools originally, to begin with. Only much later on, as time passed, then slowly add in the Secondary school section. Hence, operated in different mode, from : Dunman High & River Valley High. Nevertheless, in the end, all became \"IP\" schools status.

Likewise, if there is a need to convert Nanyang Junior College into IP one day, then the students will comprise

        1)

all those affliated Chung Cheng High (from both Main & Yishun branches, Express O level track) students who have scored Raw score L1R5 10 points or better, assuming that the Cut-off-points (NYJC) is Nett 6 points, with affliated students able to offset their 4 discount points from (Cca or Higher Chinese + Affliation status), plus

        2)

all those PSLE students, who are able to meet future Nanyang Junior College (IP) admission Cut-off-point AL points.

For Nanyang Junior College to turn into IP, the first entry point of admission has to be, from the PSLE batch of students.

        3)

plus find another suitable Partner school who happen to share the same common interests / vision together.
        Can be

        (Nan Hua High or
        Nan Chiau High or
Crescent Girls Sec or Anderson Secondary)

The IP (Crescent Girls) can remain in their own school study IP curriculum, from Year (1 to 4). Once reach Year 5, the girls then cross over to Nanyang Junior College, study their A-level.

That is , follow the same pattern (format), follow the same method as

        - the SCGS (IP) and St Nick (IP) girls, study 4 years (IP) in their own individual Secondary school, until reach Year 5, then cross over to Eunoia Junior College

and follow the same, identical method as

        - Cedar (IP) girls study 4 years (IP). Only reach Year 5, the girls then cross over to Victoria Junior College.

        ==========================

        But of course,
if Nanyang Junior College were to become converted into \"IP\" one day, then

In the end, when that day come,
perhaps NYJC can only admit 20% of the JAE students, same as what (River Valley High & Dunman High) are admitting now : 20 %, because most of the seats have been \"choped\" by the PSLE students, unlike the current today situation, NYJC absorb 100 % of JAE intake.

        However,
Moe alone herself, cannot make the decision to \" suka suka\" convert Nanyang JC into \"IP\", because It is after all polite and considerate, to consult the opinion of all the (past & present) Nanyang JC Alumni members, how they feel. If the general consensus, majority of all the alumni members prefer NYJC to be as it is, then let it remain unchanged

If we are outsider, not an NYJC alumni member, we have no say.

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

          VJC - established 1984.
          VS - founded 1876.

In 1969, Singapore introduced the Junior College system. VS became a pre-university centre in 1979, offering three-year pre-university courses. When VS made the move to a new site in 1983, the school ended its Pre-University intake (while establishing VJC in 1984).

I thought the name VICTORIA in both schools made it fairly obvious 🤷

Scgs isnt SAP but still chosen to be Ejc IP.

            Hi qms,

We have deviated a lot, from the original title of this thread. Thus, appreciate if can help move my comments away to another thread which u deem appropriate, so that we don't disturb the Eunoia JC (parents & students) here. Thanks a lot, qms. Appreciated.

            Hi Whyyhww,

Anderson Secondary PSLE Cut off Point at 24x, very close to 250, in one of the past years, was very high ! Moreover, Anderson Junior College had been in existence, for so many years.

Assuming that Singapore student population continued to grow rapidly & should there come one fine day where we need more \"IP\" schools, MOE can consider turn Anderson Secondary into an IP school. Of course, by then, Anderson Secondary would need to scout around for the right partner school, sharing the same vision, goals & objectives, to pair up with.

Not sure Mean or Median is a better gauge of standard of JCs; as info can guide parents and students’ choices.

Some JCs have Median 84, 85, 86 etc etc

Median 85 means Half of the JC scored 85 points and above. The upper half.

Median 86 means Half of the JC scored 86 points and above. The upper half.

Mean 85 is the Total score of all the students divided by the total number of students; the mean or average score is 85.

For Median of 85 or 86, if the student is in the Top 50% it is good. For Mean of 85, some students could be scoring very high and some not as high resulting in an average score of 85.

I have a question really just out of curiousity. DHS accepts mostly IP students from year 1, only accept O level students from year 5. What could be the possible reasons that its mean and median are lower than EJC, VJC? And also NYJC which doesnt have IP students?
