Hi! I heard that some JCs get the students to write their own testimonials for their form teachers to use as a reference when writing their school leaving testimonial? Is this true? Does RI and HC have this practice? Thanks in advance for sharing.

This happens in secondary schools too!

It does make sense for the student to list the things he wants the teacher to highlight, especially as teachers may not remember every detail of every student's school career. Of course, the teacher is not bound to follow the 'guide'.

That's the more major and \"official\" achievements, but there may be other contributions and participation in less measurable/recordable ways? I'm still not familiar with how the school (same one) records things, but from what I saw for the last semester, some of it is a bit vague. My daughter seems to be involved in so many disparate things at the moment, not all them related to her official CCA, I'm not sure they are all going to be listed, or listed with enough detail. She's already decided to keep her own list for her own records.

To observe and write testimonials based on their observations, in addition to the comprehensive list of achievements (not limited to CCA) which the school meticulously records. What I was pointing out is that the school did not require the student to write their own testimonial.

Augmum, isn’t there a letter from MOE to verify that they have completed their 4 years of education in an IP school?

Yes, my DS experience is the same, even though he is in a different JC from jtoh's dd. The school records include more than just official CCA activities and achievements. The Civics Tutor is in constant communication with the students, advising/coaching them beyond the academic stuff. The students are not required to write their own testimonial.

So after Y4 in IP, some schools give testimonials and some schools don't? :scratchhead:
