It is relative. If the child had done his/her best, then the score is good already. Must be realistic lah....

I have the same belief too. Hence I rewarded the effort a lot more than the results. Rewarded her after her last paper - way before the actual results.

Yeah, it is very relative. To me, as long as a child did his best, he got the best!

It's all relative. To me, a good score is >260.

Yeah. All my kids got bad scores. < 260, <250

Someone told me 250 & above is consider a good score. Top 10% of the PSLE cohort. So one of your kids got good score & the other one is close to good score. They should be in good schools.

              Assuming 45k students in a cohort, I feel :

              >250 = excellent score = top 10% of PSLE cohort = top 4.5k students
              >220 = good score = top 50%? of PSLE cohort = top 22.5k students

looking at the schools with 220 cutoff, I still think they are good schools.

Nevertheless, every child excel in different ways. It is for them to find out and when they move to sec/tertiary, they find their own interest and they will excel.

A good score is relative to the individual child’s capabilities and efforts. It can be > 270 for one child and > 230 for another sibling of the child.

Agreed. We have to set goal according to the kid's ability.

Someone told me that any score lower than 250 is the end of the world - at least for your child. Is this true? Sorry, I am new in Singapore and hence don't understand all this. Thanks for help...

Someone's scored more than 250 but have bad character / attitude is 'the end of the world' !

Actually I think that about 238 and above can 偷笑 already.
