Appeal Secondary One Posting
-
What u need to do now:
Step 1: Submit Appeal Application to ALL of ur six choices tmr after registration at 8/9am. The chances of appeals being successful are much higher this year since there are so many people unhappy with their posted school this year.
Step 2: Find at least 3 schools with COP 220-229 last year. Their COP are most likely to be equal to or below ur DD’s T-Score. If u wanna guarantee ur chances, then call up that school and see whether this year’s COP is lower or equal to ur DD’s T-Score.
Step 3: Wait for that phone call that informs U that’s ur appeal is successful. Trust me, u can easily find the schools that u prefer if u were to follow these steps (ESPECIALLY Step 2). That T-Score is not bad.
All the best!rrangerr:
Hi Everyone!
My daughter's T-score is 234.
School's she applied for:
7019 – CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent (Cut-off guideline 232)
7028 – Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School (Cut-off guideline 232)
7023 - CHIJ St. Theresa’s Convent (Cut-off guideline 235)
7308 - Presbyterian High School (Cut-off guideline 232)
3013 - Tanjong Katong Girls’ School (Cut-off guideline 231)
3030 - Temasek Secondary School (Cut-off guideline 231)
She was allocated - Yuying Secondary School (Cut-off guideline 188). Yu Ying is the lowest ranked secondary school in the whole of Singapore. Also note that Yu Ying does not offer Tamil (Mother Tongue) in the school premises.
I called MOE and they advised me to apply for a transfer to those schools with the new COP that is less than or equal to 234.
Is anyone else facing a similar issue? Any suggestions / advice is welcome. My daughter is quite upset as her classmates with lower scores ended up with much higher ranked schools.
Thanks! -
Anyone knows when will we know the appeal results? While waiting for the results, i reckon we have to withhold from buying the uniforms and textbooks of the posted secondary school?

I believed that since 2 years ago after MOE announced that no appeals will be considered if the child dun meet the cop of the school, it is almost impossible to appeal into a school where the COP is higher than your child aggregate. My child was 1 point from her 1st choice, but when we called the school, we were told dun bothered to appeal cos they will not even consider our application. Anyway, you may still try to call in the school and ask, and all the best to your girl in her appealing. -

Only if u meet the school's Cut-off point, will Ministry allow u to appeal. This is an order, from Ministry to All MOE regulated Secondary schools in Sg, except NUS High discretionary SIE interview intake.
At the point of submission of documents to appeal, admin will ask for your T-score. If do not meet COP, they will inform u, \"Sorry not able to proceed with appeal, as it is an order given from the Top (MOE)\" -

As per Rio comment, MOE policy is no appeal will be entertained if school COP is above the t-score. Don’t want to give you or your child false hope. -
hi all, my son T-score 234 and wanna to appeal for Fuhua 235 COP this year, last year COP was 232. like to know that we need to submit the appeal letter to Fuhua school or submit to Clementi Town which need to report tomorrow? He was pretty disappointed unable to enter to FH. I’ve called FH and told chances very slim but we just wanna to try our luck so now want to find out the right way to submit the appeal and any suggestion for me. Many thanks for all the kind advise.

I called the schools but were informed that cannot appeal due to lower COP. -
Just wander why there is a big jump on the cop. The booklet which issued to the parents cop for the school is 208 and now the cop had been increase to 214 which is 6 Mark’s diff.

Would you prefer the school COP to drop by 6?
At the end of the day, it’s supply and demand. If a horde aim for the same school (because the school did something right), COP will likely increase. The reverse is also true. -
I would like to appeal for my boy but cannot think of any what to write for the following!
State the reason for choosing this school.
What are your strengths and talents?
If you are given a place here, how do you think you can contribute to this school?
And all these to be completed by the students -

If no, what you write doesn’t matter cos appeal won’t be entertained.
If yes, you will probably have to explain why you didn’t apply previously. -

One reason could be the papers were easier this year and many students scored higher aggregate. Thus with more students having better grades, naturally the COP for schools will increase too. -
is it possible to appeal for IB from O-levels track within the same school, if miss the COP by 1?
-
Do note that some schools request for the following:
- Selection of Secondary School (Choice Order)
Therefore please print out and bring along with you when going down to the school tomorrow. -

Appeals are not impossible for admission to Express though MOE very much discourages unless there are extenuating circumstances. But I doubt very much anyone will succeed appealing for missing the mark, albeit 1 or half mark. You can try if u’re determines enuf but do share with us here for future batches benefit. IB places are very limited & very competitive. -

MGS (IB) this year is 258.
If you have 257, do not meet 258, they won't allow u to appeal. Can call MGS, to confirm -
No appeal will be entertained for COP below 258. One of DD’s friend got in with 259. Another friend who scored 257 called the school this morning and was told can only appeal if meet COP. I believe all schools need to follow MOE guideline.
