It's just how the polys package their programs to be slightly different from each other. Course content are similar with slight variations.kitty2:
Do you have any information for the above? Some people said is better to take business admin and specialise in IB in 3 rd year :?
If the student is keen on pursuing an IB course (example, NP and SP) from the start, then put it down as 1st choice, esp if he meets the entry requirement.
For those who indicate Biz Admin with specialisation options, are likely to be undecided as to what they want to pursue during the JAE. And that's ok. We cannot expect 16yo to know what they want to specialise in at that age. So, they may want a more general exposure to business courses and then, when they have a better idea, can decide on their specialisation after Y1.
Another possible reason is that some students do not meet NP/SP's IB course as the cop is so competitive. So, they indicate BA and hope to do well enough to specialise in IB in Y2 and Y3.kitty2:

Another very very very important thing to do, is to go to the polys JAE and talk to the lecturers to have a better sense and impression of what to expect. They must like the ambience and environment. Hear what the lecturers have to say and advice. Students must know what they are getting themselves into. -

SOTA
Accepts artistic students based on their PSLE results and talent (performing arts, visual arts, etc). SOTA is like the IP schools and students get an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
It's not an enrichment centre type school.
NAFA and Lasalle
Offers different types of arts related programs. It's an alternative route from the usual JC/Poly post-secondary education.
They are private tertiary institutions but receives funding from MOE. So, the certs are definitely recognised by MOE. NAFA and Lasalle are like the poly equivalent, with the students focusing on the arts. Government is encouraging a more dynamic and vibrant arts culture in Sg, so this is where NAFA and Lasalle come in.
NAFA/Lasalle - offers diplomas and degrees. Lasalle offers Masters courses as well.
For Lasalle's Fine Arts degree prog, it is a partner institution with Goldsmiths, University of London.

For NAFA's degree music prog, it collaborates with Royal College of Music, London
Only NAFA offers enrichment activities in the arts (music, art, dance) for pri and sec students. That's the Junior Art prog, and caters to 6yo to 16yo.

A friend’s daughter scored less than 10 points for O lvl but set her heart on pursuing a music diploma at NAFA.
No violent objections from the parents and they were very supportive and open to their daughter’s interest and talent. My friend said that her daughter is happiest when she goes to school and plays on her brass instrument. No regrets in letting her girl take the route less travelled. Friend’s daughter should be completing her diploma at NAFA soon and wants to pursue a music degree after that.
Different pathways in life but all leading in the same direction => towards a better life and future. More importantly is that our kids feel enriched and enjoy the learning process along the way -

My DS is in Sec 2 now and is keen to pursue his interests relating to Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering. May I ask which Poly is the pioneer or best in this? Also which are the key subjects that he must score well in order to be eligible?

Very hard to answer this.
What does the student prefer? Or where does his interest lean to? If interest leans to poly, then must also decide in which particular area/courses?
Must also consider:
- learning style (bookworm type? hands-on learning type?)
- strength in languages (EL? mother tongue?) if want to go JC -

Not my area of expertise, so can't get you a true picture.
The best advice I can give is to encourage parents and the student to visit the Open House/JAE and talk to the students and lecturers at the respective polys directly. That is the best way to gauge the subtle differences and the right fit between the student and the school.
So, if you know that your son has a keen interest in aerospace/aviation, then head to the polys offering these courses and focus your attention and time on that. U can do this when you boy is in Sec 4. If his interest is still there, can apply for DPA (direct poly admission, similar to DSA)
Think must do well in Maths and Physics. Best to check to make sure.
