History and geography content are heavier but they are bookend by the syllabus and known facts. Can’t run away from them. There are only so many things / ways examiners can ask about Chulalongkorn. Literature, on the other hand, has more 变化. MacBeth’s tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow soliloquy has only 10 to 12 lines but one can think of at least 10 different questions on it. I find it so much tougher to prepare for a Lit exam
Think on the flipside for literature your content is finite while history/geog they are more content heavy? Having said that my gals will not choose lit as English cmi

My English was A*/A1 all the way but I HATED Literature.
In Sec 1/Sec 2 my teacher was only interested in us parroting back her interpretation of the Literature texts. If I even gave an alternative interpretation I’d get zero marks.
Needless to say I picked Geography as my compulsory humanities instead. It doesn’t even pretend that I just need to memorize the solid facts to score well. I learnt that my actual opinion is only wanted in GP at JC level. Not for Literature. -
I took lit at O and got A1…Maybe I was lucky as the 3 books I had were fairly interesting and easy to understand. I did not take H or G.

I agree that command of Eng has little to do w E. Lit imho. One can score low for Eng and excel in Eng Lit.

I did recall, sec 3 n 4 lit were more memorable than sec 1 n 2.
I recall i read lord of the files, animal farm, macbeth and hamlet but not sure which were those for sec1,2 vs 3,4.
And kids enjoying reading circles, most prob because there is no exam on it.
Now, i cannot recall much of my H n G classes then. But I still remember my Lit tr and how her questions piqued my thinking till today. Today, if i need to find out abt H or G, i can google. -

Reminded me of my dc's piano lesson, tr very strict on tempo, play to the beat. Dc asked, why can't he play to his own way? Could it be the same, learn the rules first?
