Hi CKS and Buds,
:thankyou:
BTW, Buds, for all the pre-school educational tips that you have been sharing plus advice, it'll be my pleasure to return the favour.
But you know what, I have a strange feeling that your DDs will be alright, cuz that strange feeling tells me that you were a 'true blue' Lit student??
Ermmm Chief,
Think I deleted the original Part 1 posting here
Any way to reinstate it back (if such a thing is possible)?
Apologies for the 'extra' work  -

What is the secret of studying literature ?
Isnβt it very tough ? -
emerald:
Hi emerald,caroline3sg:
Thank you autumnbronze
Do you know what are other sec 1 literature books?
1) Chinese Cinderalla - sec ?
2) Merchant of Venice - sec 2
3) Midsummer night's dream - sec ?
Do IP and non-IP schools use the same texts?
Both schools MAY use the same titles, but not the same texts. Some non-IP schools may teach using the adapted/simplified version of the shakespearean plays. -

Hi Fairy,I don't find Sing To The Dawn & Or Else, The lightning God that nice.
Personally, I feel that its hard to enjoy a text if you don't have some backgrd knowledge abt the author/book.
Hey, Sing to the Dawn was a very basic and early introduction as to what 'feminism' was all about, ie Dawan (vaguely remember the name), fighting for her 'rights' to study.
It made me understand the plight of poverty, discrimination bet boys and gals etc.. just to highlight some issues.
Hey, but to each his own

I am impressed so many are interested in literature !

I have always enjoyed Lit, and it was my favourite subject in school. I was also very fortunate to have excellent Lit teachers, both in secondary school and JC, who made the subject come alive.
Autumnbronze: your thoughts on Lit rekindled my love for the subject. Like foreverj and so many others who enjoyed Lit, I hope my DDs will enjoy the subject as much as I did when it's their turn to study the subject in secondary sch. -

My dd told me, Sing to the Dawn context and lanugage use, can be very simple and the book itself is very thin. However, the morale of the story is very strong. I open up my dd's Sing to the Dawn and suprise, so many highlights, notes scribble everywhere. This book alone, they read at least 3 to 4 times, repeat and repeat.
