Which text is your child doing? Usually the exam scope and exam format will be given closer to the exam date, so it is hard to answer what kind of question will be asked. A school I know actually had mcq on a Shakespeare book which was super easy, vs our school which was one 25-mark question on the same text.
May I know what kind of questions will be ask in Literature in Sec 1 exam?
Is it still the character of the person in the play/short story?
Is there any book in Popular that can help the child? -
The book is called " An Anthology of Singapore Plays : Something old, Something new, Something Borrowed".

Most of my students read this text in Secondary 1 or 2. There are three plays in this book.
The book is called \" An Anthology of Singapore Plays : Something old, Something new, Something Borrowed\".
Students are expected to know the themes and characters of these plays well, and will be tested on a source-based question and an essay question dealing with these aspects. For the latter question, students may also be tasked to do a comparative analysis between any of the two plays.
Hope your child will enjoy this book as it is an enjoyable read

Thank you![/quote]Sourced-based (or passage-based question) is where an extract of the book is provided and the student will have to answer a question based on it. It will be a specific question and the student can only use information from this extract. This is usually the first of two questions of the Lit paper.
The second essay question may test the student on the themes or characters of the book, and the student will have to write an essay using information and evidence from the rest of the book.
I can't really give specific examples because different schools used different texts, but the general focus will be on the themes and characters of the text.
Sadly there is minimal to zero resources (eg, guide books, 10 years series) available - too niche a market and ironically too wide a coverage for publishers to want to have anything to do with it. One way though, is to source for past years Lit papers of your child's school. But this will be useful only if they have been reading the same text for the past few years.
Hope this helps -
