Is she good enough to represent the school in inter-school tournament in badminton? If she is, then it is better to choose a CCA she likes as this will last through her 4 years in secondary school and can gain points taking part in tournaments.Wad CCA should my daughter join?? If she is not interested in joining a particular CCA, then it may be a drag through the 4 years. I am sure the school will help her chalk up additional CCA points if there is a shortfall. Just my humble opinion. -

I shared the same thoughts too. I advise my gal to join a CCA according to her interest as it will be for 4 years. CCA points can work on it. It is really a drag to go for some activities that they dislike. It will be for 4 years and not just 4 months... Think carefully and decide wisely.

Super Busy Mum:
Girl Guide is more fun. They get to go camping, hiking, campfire, canoeing etc. They also get to learn first aids, outdoor cooking, foot drills etc. Whereas St John focus on first aids & NPCC focus on foot drills. I think NCC & NPCC are more for boys. Can anyone provide info. about the Girl Guides, NPCC and St John? Which one is more fun? What is the advantage and disadvange of taking each
?
Many many thanks :?: ! -

No trial for CCA. Normally will get into the UG if put as first choice.White_Gale:
My sec one girl hasn't confirm on which CCA yet...she must go through all the CCA trials...ai yo. Then sch select for her ...?!
If it is sports or performing arts, it is understandable. You mean need to trial for Uniform Groups as well? -
My son is in the compute/science and tech club and I have to say that he is really enjoying himself. From what I can see it is a CCA which really complements his studies as they are learning programming and presentation skills which i’m sure will be very useful. His teacher IC even sent him for course on public speaking and all that.So it seems to be quite useful for his personal development

Need some advice here.
My Sec 1 girl does not like her CCA, if she completes her CCA in Sec 1 and change to another CCA in Sec 2, will she lost her CCA point she gains in Sec 1?
She spent 1 month going for her CCA everyday to prepare for a competition, the team did not win any award and as such, the teacher told them there would not be any CCA point given for this competition. She was very upset as her main reason to join the competition is to gain CCA points. I am going to speak to the teacher on that but could someone please advise me if the team does not win any awards at the competition, shouldn’t they be given some kind of "representation" points under Achievement? -

But I don't think the teacher is correct to say that they don't get CCA points if they don't win any competition. By participating, she should get some points. But of course, if she wins any competition, there should be more points.
