Wad CCA should my daughter join?? She got selected 4 choir and badminton

She is more interested in badminton but choir has more CCA points. We're both confused about was CCA to join. Advise pls? Tks 🙂

Is she good enough to represent the school in inter-school tournament in badminton? If she is, then it is better to choose a CCA she likes as this will last through her 4 years in secondary school and can gain points taking part in tournaments.

If she is not interested in joining a particular CCA, then it may be a drag through the 4 years. I am sure the school will help her chalk up additional CCA points if there is a shortfall. Just my humble opinion.

I shared the same thoughts too. I advise my gal to join a CCA according to her interest as it will be for 4 years. CCA points can work on it. It is really a drag to go for some activities that they dislike. It will be for 4 years and not just 4 months... Think carefully and decide wisely.

          Super Busy Mum:
Can anyone provide info. about the Girl Guides, NPCC and St John? Which one is more fun? What is the advantage and disadvange of taking each 😓 ?

          Many many thanks :?: !
Girl Guide is more fun. They get to go camping, hiking, campfire, canoeing etc. They also get to learn first aids, outdoor cooking, foot drills etc. Whereas St John focus on first aids & NPCC focus on foot drills. I think NCC & NPCC are more for boys.

My sec one girl hasn't confirm on which CCA yet...she must go through all the CCA trials...ai yo. Then sch select for her ...?!

If it is sports or performing arts, it is understandable. You mean need to trial for Uniform Groups as well?

No trial for CCA. Normally will get into the UG if put as first choice.

My son is in the compute/science and tech club and I have to say that he is really enjoying himself. From what I can see it is a CCA which really complements his studies as they are learning programming and presentation skills which i’m sure will be very useful. His teacher IC even sent him for course on public speaking and all that.So it seems to be quite useful for his personal development

                Need some advice here.

My Sec 1 girl does not like her CCA, if she completes her CCA in Sec 1 and change to another CCA in Sec 2, will she lost her CCA point she gains in Sec 1?

She spent 1 month going for her CCA everyday to prepare for a competition, the team did not win any award and as such, the teacher told them there would not be any CCA point given for this competition. She was very upset as her main reason to join the competition is to gain CCA points. I am going to speak to the teacher on that but could someone please advise me if the team does not win any awards at the competition, shouldn’t they be given some kind of "representation" points under Achievement?

If she changes her CCA, then she will lose all her points that she have accumulated in Sec 1.

But I don't think the teacher is correct to say that they don't get CCA points if they don't win any competition. By participating, she should get some points. But of course, if she wins any competition, there should be more points.

Depending on your school’s policy on assigning cip hours for av club, the cca may be a good choice. For me, I will obtain 4 cca points for 3 years by participating in a major event (prize giving in this case) and cip hours are assigned based on a timesheet of events which I helped out at. In this case, I already went past 100 at sec 2, so another 5 cca points attained, giving 17 in total. With additional points from ICAS, SMO and participation, it’s over 21, so I would have attained 2 bonus points. Note that this cca isn’t as easy as most think; it often takes long hours and constant supervision. That said, it’s still a good choice if you’re generally interested in AV systems.

CCA points can be attained through competitions as previously mentioned, for example, ICAS and SMO. They are a good way to boost your cca points. Taking up leadership and obtaining more cip hours help as well.

Does MGS IP has CCA points ?

Just curious, will all girls enrolled in MGS Girls Brigade, will be given a chance to represent HQ at International Competition, NYAA Silver award.

What is CDP? Will it be conducted during Girls Brigade timing? or will the girls have to spend "extra" hours during weekend and during school lesson hours.

Btw, how are ICAS points allocated to CCA points? Will they have to get high distinction, distinction or credit in order to get CCA points? Any subject in ICAS or have to choose specific subject? Will these points add to any of their chosen CCA (or) do they have to choose a specific CCA in order to enjoy the ICAS points?

                        Can anyone give details?
