Hi can anyone in the know pls PM me recommendations for 1-1 violin teacher at United Sq Mandeville for 6 yr old boy just starting out. Is it better to get well qualified teacher with perhaps high expectations or younger but more kid-friendly teacher?
All advice greatly appreciated! -
Hi mummies,
I have some questions regards to violin and hope someone can enlighten me.
My 6 year old boy is not keen in practicing his violin. I need to keep reminding him to pick up his violin to practice.
Also, I find it hard to supervise him and have no idea how to correct his mistakes since I have no music background whatsoever.
Every time after his violin lesson (his violin teacher comes to our house once a week), the teacher did go thru with me what he has taught and what to look out (son mistakes) and to help to correct him.
Actually, I have no clue what the teacher is talking about haiz…
Anyone also facing the same problem as me?
Must we parents know violin in order to supervise our kids?
I felt I should have let him learn piano instead of violin which 2 of his tutors also mentioned is the most difficult string instrument to pick up.
My son actually prefers piano but I don’t want to invest in a piano and let it become a white elephant at home should he give up half way. -

If your son prefers piano, you may consider rent to buy a piano. I heard some music school has this scheme. You can rent the piano while he is learning with the school and till certain period then you own the piano. You can stop renting it anytime your son loses his interest. They will take back the piano. -

But which instrument did he say he prefers? Did he say he likes piano? Or you think it's easier?Hi mummies,

Hi J & J
Thanks for yr kind advice. Oh I have never heard of this rental of piano sounds great !!
Hi Phankao,
He ever learnt piano and violin in school and he told me he prefer piano. However, I don’t know how serious he is hence I choose to let him learn violin over piano and engaged private teacher for him. -
Hi considering to switch violin teacher. Anyone have comments on Mr Chu in Crestar Jurong East? Any experience will be greatly appreciated.

NEVER EVER TRY DOREIMI MUSIC SCHOOL AT CHINESE GARDEN… ONLY KNOW HOW TO EARN MONEY. DON’T KNOW HOW TO TEACH. TEACHER IS RUDE AND SCOLD STUDENT TOO. GOOD LUCK.
